After over 3 years, Josh rang the bell to signal the end of chemotherapy treatment.
He now enters 5 years of checks without chemo to make sure the leukaemia doesn't return. After that, he will be classed as officially "cured"

This little superhero started high school yesterday and then had a surgery today to remove a port-a-cath through which he received a number of chemo doses in earlier stages of his leukaemia treatment.
He finishes treatment in July 2024 after 3 1/2 yrs - he is my idol ❤️🎗
So, this little trooper had his first proper half day back in school after a lockdown and leukaemia treatment. First time in school since Dec 2020!
He was a star and slipped right back into the routines - so proud of him!

Taking two days to spend with these two superheroes and my incredible wife (who prob wouldn't want me sharing a photo of her, don't know why)
8yo starts his most intensive phase of chemo this week - wish him luck (nearly didn't make it to Lakes after hospital visit yesterday!)
Got amazing news yesterday...
We were told that our 11yo son, who was diagnosed with leukaemia March 2021, finishes treatment on 20th May this year! Not in July as we expected! Cannot express how thrilled we are!! 🎊🎊. A long journey but there is light ✨️...

3 years since this little superhero was diagnosed with leukaemia...
So close to the end of treatment and couldn't be prouder of the bravery he has shown...
20th May 2024 will be a wonderful day!

My son started his maintenance phase today FINALLY. This will be 3 years of gentle daily oral chemos and clinic visits generally 1-2 times a month.
He is an absolute warrior and I am in awe in all he has done...🙏
On March 1st 2021, our beautiful 8-year-old, Joshua was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Thankfully, his prognosis is very good and his Consultant is confident he will be able to not only get Joshua into remission, but CURE our incredibly brave boy!!
Can officially say how excited I am now - I'll be an Acting DHT from September!!
Looking forward for the chance to work in this role at such a lovely school!
So I can finally announce as my class know...
I will be moving from my NQT school in January to take on a KS2 Lead/Maths Lead/Y6 role! Very sad to be leaving my school and class but so excited to be working with an SLT and experience a new setting!

Back in hospital with this little trooper.
We were looking forward to three unbroken days together but a sudden temp spike has us back in for 48hrs. Fingers crossed it's not an infection and we can be home on Monday.
Hope these help - been working on low-stakes weekly quizzes for Y6 Maths which are intended to be used a few weeks after teaching each topic - ideal for retrieval practice

Update on my son: in 2 weeks another test will be done to decide what intensity of treatment he will need for his "maintenance phase" - expected to be the standard level because his body has responded so well to treatment and so he expects he will be in remission in 2 weeks time
Just spend a brilliant week in sunny Anglesey. Much needed to recharge the batteries and a miracle our 8yo was able to be there for most of it - needed a trip back to RMCH for his blood counts but otherwise he was there when 5 months ago we thought there'd be no chance 🌅🌅
Poor 10yo has the flu and a cold virus in one - temps of 40 and all whilst having daily chemo 😔
Wishing that he feels better over a few days to enjoy Christmas 🎄 🙏
Just saw advice to
#NQT
saying: don't lend your glue sticks out. Does anyone have anymore 'real-life, day-to-day' pieces of advice for NQTs?

Now it's official! I will be stepping down from Year 6 for the first time in my career to teach Year 3! Very excited and looking forward to new opportunities hopefully! Will make last few days of

Being in school today on rota makes me realise how much I am missing doing my job properly. Those who are complaining about teachers not wanting to return to school because they are shirking work have no clue.
We just want to be safe...
So pleased to be watching the

with my boy from our own home and not a hospital room. It's been a difficult few months but good to see his smile - and thank you

I've been shortlisted to be an SLE!! Buzzing. Has anyone who has been through the process got any advice for interview?

With my brave little man again this weekend. In awe of him as had has ingested more medicine and steroids, undergone more general anaesthetics, had more blood transfusions and more injections in his leg than I have had in my lifetime... superstar! But treatment is working!!
Well... the deed is done!
Thank you to all those who have supported us and donated to the Brave the Shave campaign in solidarity with my son Joshua who was diagnosed on the 1st March 2021.
It is wonderful to do something to show Josh how much we love him!
To show solidarity with my son, who was diagnosed with leukaemia on 1st March 2021, me and a couple of relatives are planning to 'Brave the Shave' on 2nd April 2021 (Good Friday). Wanted to mention do people know it's not the stress of kids being back in school.... ;) 1/2
Just finished this wonderful little novel. Anyone else read this - would love to hear your thoughts.
I love the unique way she writes, great snappy narrative.

Loving this book - never used a wordless book before but finding the great value in it! Thank you
@storybreathing
for such a great masterpiece - looking forward to Y6 writing about it today.
Honestly can't believe this is becoming a reality!
You can preorder

Been very quiet recently...
School, family life have been extremely hectic recently but determined to get my voice back out there!
Officially have the role of AHT at school after having done the role for a while now though so that's good 👍

"Anyone got all the planning for Mayas" "Anyone got a staff meeting I can use" "Teaching is too hard - this close to giving up" "I didn't know there was a Multiplication Tables Check! Think of the children!" - that's a summary.
Got the email for the

assessment today! Window is 15th-22nd April - not looking forward to writing a 2,500 word thing in 8 days with the day job but looking forward to completing the 18 month long process!

9yo walks into the dining room and asks what day it is.
When he hears it's Wednesday he gives the biggest sigh ever.
He then says it is the yellow medicine day -
#ChildhoodCancer
sucks :/
He has chemo everyday but this particular one is weekly and ruins the day for him
Pretty surreal day...
Had an offer accepted for our potential first home!!
Still not sunk in and still a long way to go but buzzing!
Off too sunny Dorset tomorrow 😎 ☀️
#Year6
teachers - I urge you to use this wonderfully sunny Bank Holiday weekend for ANYTHING but

First Ofsted ✔ Have left school before the feedback - I have a wife and kids to be with and it'll be the same outcome tomorrow... probably find out before then anyway! Relieve 😁
So I will be enjoying a ‘Christmas half-day’ on Friday. Not because I need to do my shopping but because our Head is very empathetic and recognises the self-worth we feel when he wants to reward hard work. So I am looking forward to it 😎
Have been in awe of the
#NHS
over this last 6 weeks.
Today my son had a routine procedure which, two weeks ago, caused prolonged seizures due to a blood clot on his brain.
Today, after medication and care, he had the same procedure and is doing well. 😍👏
Week 1 of hols:
9yo hospital visit
9yo has chicken pox and positive covid test
Bro has pneumonia
My bday
7yo has vomiting bug
9yo has a 'vacant spell' on the 1 day he is in school
Up at 2am to collect parents from airport
How are your

hols going? 👍🤪
This day last year, my son went into hospital and had two blood transfusions...
One year later he is recovering well from leukaemia.
Thank you to

@RMCH_Ward86
for the amazing support you have given our family - he enjoyed his first full week back at school last week.

Vital that teachers are aware of this need

Update:
Not likely I'll be resurfacing on twitter much the next month...
WE HAVE BOUGHT A HOUSE! Contracts exchanged and completion date this Friday!
Hectic time!
