Free instrumental lessons were the norm in state schools in the 1980s - at least, they were in Grimsby and Cleethorpes, where I was brought up. Every kid who wanted to play, could play - with a free weekly lesson from a peri teacher.

Tales of Harry continued... My poor lad cut his paw quite badly in the river when he was very young. Here he's at the vets and feeling sorry for himself. He was right as rain in a few days. But look at that face - my sweet lad.
