Believe Science, Not Hype RFK Jr. & influencers call seed oils "poison," but research shows they can be part of a healthy diet. The real issue? Misinformation. As @neiltyson says, “Science is true, whether or not you believe in it.” My @MSNBC op-ed:

I agree with Trump's HHS nominee on the dangers of ultraprocessed foods, but please don’t replace all your seed oils with tallow — no matter what you hear at a congressional hearing.

This was a fascinating meeting on UPF policies and I was happy to present some preliminary results of our ongoing RCT on mechanisms by which diets high in UPFs cause excess energy intake. Here’s a brief summary 🧵

Interesting blog post from @marionnestle on ultra-processed foods and the need for more resources to conduct rigorous nutrition research.

Great breakdown of that new sucralose-is-genotoxic study by @GidMK. I think we need to take this one step further, and ask *why* we keep seeing studies asserting danger from artificial sweeteners on the flimsiest of evidence. https://t.co/EY9A5ZEbOD

Chickpeas: they're a nutrient-rich and great-tasting legume. They're also versatile and feature in lots of tasty recipes (like curries and hummus).

The ugly truth is that we can either learn to live with slightly more expensive nuts, meat, poultry, and dairy, or we can let California, Arizona, Nevada, and Utah turn to dust and THEN learn to live with slightly more expensive nuts, meat, poultry, and dairy.

Replacing any macro incl. saturated fat (fatty meat, butter, lard) with polyunsaturated fat (nuts, seeds, fatty fish, liquid veg oil) improves glucose, insulin, insulin resistance also improves lipids. same foods optimize all factors meta of >100 RCTs https://t.co/cvPd9dafLA
