Exaggerated gestures like that are something a child or maybe a kindergarten teacher talking to a child does. Adults are not supposed to emote that way to each other, unless they are in heated conflict. It is a “scoldy” thing, which is consistent with the above interpretation.

cheerful smile. Turning on the sound, her vocal intonations sound defensive, not authoritative, especially the uptalking at the end of certain sentences that sound bad. The nonverbals overall suggest to me that they knew what they were doing was controversial and felt.

This is making the rounds, and I don’t agree with the common interpretation that this video was cheerful or nonchalant. Turning off the sound, I find her body language and facial expressions tense, even aggressive. She does smile, but it is not a.

People might wonder why I cared so much about Vinay Prasad being ousted. Scientists getting ousted by political mobs is evil. If it is allowed, science will become purely political. Above all, it's personal. I will go bare knuckles on this every time. Long live The Prasad.
