Have a robust UI system, fund the social safety net, and keep the labor market tight. Don’t set up regulations to protect jobs just for the sake of it. Don’t arbitrarily slow the utilization of technology. Society has a stake in people’s time being put to the best use.
We need smart regulation to protect 3.5 million truck drivers & 2 million long haul drivers. AI should not be used for mass layoffs that drive up short term profits w/ no productivity gains. Drivers are needed for safety, oversight, edge cases, & maintenance. I stand with

Lots of people claiming this is about inbreeding. But half of all kids used to die before reaching the end of puberty. This level of tragedy was the norm.

From this great series on CHIPS, they hired rapidly. Then got a stern letter from Inspector General that they needed a "comprehensive workforce plan" first. On a critical natsec issue! I wouldn't make it in govt b/c I wouldn't be able to resist sending the "Browns letter" back.

Ha, ha, but no. Baumol 101: in a free market for labor, workers share the gains from the most productive sectors. Wages rise everywhere. Sectors that get productive more slowly—teaching, nursing, surgery—get pricier. Not because patients are worms. Because arithmetic.
The economic phenomena called Baumol's disease is fascinating. Baumol's disease refers to a term coined by an economist to explain why higher costs in certain sectors isn't the fault of billionaires profiting from them but the ugly worms who need health care. Eat shit.
