It also can’t be said enough that these people often just have insane views and we can’t let them dictate our future. She claims she’s doing this because the US might not have enough land to grow food. This is a crazy thing to say!

And here’s another direct result of this kind of bad faith litigation:. Planning documents get longer and longer in order to try to head off lawsuits. 20,000 pages for one transmission line is insane.

The system is also extremely biased toward people with too much time on their hands. Because she shows up to all the meetings, her voice is heard. This is anti-democratic.

Our system makes it so easy for even just a single person to do this. All they have to do is read and understand the statutes (which is becoming even easier with AI tools!).

This is what the “litigation doom loop” looks like in practice. For activists, it’s not about ultimately prevailing in court. It’s about inflicting large costs on developers and creating massive uncertainty about when the legal challenge will end.

Say goodbye to your net zero goals if you make it this easy for one person to block new clean energy from being built.

She’s filed more lawsuits against clean energy projects than anyone in else in her state. And while she doesn’t always win, that’s not the point:. The process is the punishment for project developers. She is harassing them until they give up and go away.
