Thrilled to share this much awaited, exciting work from the @Slotkin_Lab lead by @mcliupeng published in @nature today!!
So proud of my lab for our latest work out today in @Naturepub. We took advantage of transposable elements and CRISPR to perform targeted insertion of cargo DNA in the Arabidopsis and soy genomes. Led by @mcliupeng. https://t.co/wSvr1uuEbF. 🧵

Excited to share Nona: a unifying multimodal masking framework for functional genomics. Models for DNA have evolved along separate paths: sequence-to-function (AlphaGenome), language models (Evo2), and generative models (DDSM). Can these be unified under a single paradigm? 1/15

Nice paper in @ScienceMagazine apparently showing for the first time that DNA breaks leave lasting epigenetic scars Excitingly, it’s consistent with The Information Theory of Aging & our discovery of this same phenomenon in 1997, 1999, 2008 & 2023 🤣👏🧵 https://t.co/kDmqCO8b4J

Plant bioengineering can be quite annoying. Look at this crap; the type of agar drastically impacts transformation efficiency. The geometric complexity of all these variables makes for one hell of a ride to find the ideal brew…for each stage of regeneration stage. Lord help us.

IMO it’s not bad that tech folks are building AI for science because they lack the domain expertise to know what’s working. A greater waste is that too many are over-indexing on every poor approach scientists have due to their human limitations and historical baggage. Scaling a

@harshithcy from @shivaprasad_pv's lab identified the role of transcription factor OsWRKY53 that dictates wound responses in rice. It fine-tunes wound responses by turning on defense-related genes while turning down growth-related ones. https://t.co/7XNFF8N6kI
