An often overlooked form of intimate partner violence is economic abuse. I presented a petition in the House of Commons to raise awareness of this important issue, but Pierre Poilievre heckled me throughout the time I was speaking, trying to drown me out. We had economic abuse…
@MooShuIceCream
Making a list of businesses that have been particularly affected by the downtown occupation. Let's shop there "en masse" after this crisis.
@OttawaPolice
Tomorrow, you mean on Monday? And then Tuesday, Wednesday etc. How long must the city remain a hostage of the demonstrators? Do something for downtown's health workers, elderly, small businesses, students, homeless, and other residents.
@AHousefather
Someone I know posted pictures for days of what he called the "Ottawa Carnival" on Wellington Street, showing the honking trucks, tents in which to warm up or get "free food", adding "it's all love here, only love", not one bit of shame for the impact on local residents.
@acoyne
For all Canadians: "the growing impact of foreign interference on our ability to enjoy a free and fair political process is undeniable." This is not a partisan issue.
@_llebrun
@_MarkSutcliffe
So mean towards the people who actually live and have businesses downtown Ottawa. Politicians have all gone home to their constituencies. They borrow Ottawa a few wekks a year. Ottawa is a real people town. This convoy crowd doesn't care about them, just disruption and chaos.
@CBCAlerts
Would we not do all we can to curtail the virus knowing that the very-young-tiny ones are very vulnerable. Limit contacts and stay home as much as possible.
@CBCNews
And what would a Conservative Prime Minister do? Not attend any international conference? Fly commercial? Take the train to travel across Canada? If you criticize the current Prime Minister, be ready to criticize the next for the same reasons.
@simonhoupt
Even with a merger. which paper will fold for lack of revenue, National Post or Toronto Star or another? And which journalists and staff will loose their job. Notice that some Québec newspapers have survived by becoming non-profit organisations. News for profit is the problem.
@PierrePoilievre
I can't stand your constant empty rants against... (fill the space) anymore. That's all you can do? If ever you propose a smart policy for Canada, I'm sure a good friend will share. That's what good people do.
@OliRochon
@andrewaperez
What's the level of participation. Around 40% of eligible Ontarians voted in the last provincial election. Democracy is dying in Ontario.
@Charles19652721
@avnishnanda
You are not talking about downtown Ottawa residents still hostages of the demonstrators are you. Those who know probably feel a lot of empathy for the Canadian truckers unable to return in Coutts.
@Patrickdery
@M_Biron
@thomasjuneau
@tvanouvelles
@charlesadler
@nationalpost
Why deliver and trigger a gender war? Women do not hate their fathers, brothers, male partner, or sons. Men, don't fall for this kind of hate-producing discourse.
@nationalpost
Better watch the Carleton constituency carefullly. Pierre Poilievre not assured of winning it. Conservatives picked the wrong no-plan-except-go-backwards-on-what-the-previous-government-did person.
@glen_mcgregor
They don't get it do they. We are all tired and frustrated yet we get it that distancing, masking, and vaccinating are the only measures that can possibly save lives and protect the most vulnerables, especially children under 5 years of age. Wake up all.
@kwcmoore
@CBCNews
what's up with David Cochrane? Regularly accused of being a CPC supporter. Can't keep his job at PnPCBC if he is. Must be objective and neutral, looking for facts, not maker of controversy. Enough of that out there already.
@MariekeWalsh
The rural riding of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry will react. MP Eric Dunkan is respected there as he is in Prescott-Russell-Glengarry next door, represented by a Liberal Party MP who defeated the not-from-the-region O'toole planted CPC candidate. Pay attention to ridings.
@JohnVaillant
😡 Only money is value for Suncor? How about adding value to the profits, donating to help the 22000 evacuated persons now on their way from Yellowknife to Edmonton?
@EricDuncanSDSG
You changed the subject to distract the conversation. The attack was personal, yes, but it won't be the last from many fronts. Cross the floor for your own good.
@ToulasTake
@Martin_Lukacs
@Libs4Canada
These corporate players will be looking to a Poilievre government for ... slashing corporate taxes, undermining labour rights, limiting access to social assistance, scrapping environmental regulations, and furthering economic and military integration with the United States.
@JasonPYYC
Protest the Alberta provincial tax on gas, and the opportunistic markup of gas price by oil corporations. So upset to see the national Canadian inflation rate higher than it could be because of Alberta (lowering everywhere else). Wake up Albertans, fight your own injustices first
@mynamesnotgordy
When relatives and friends are living with the treat of death by bombing every day, the carbon tax, especially if it's covered with a rebate, must appear to be ridiculously non-important.
@SusanSteele15
National Post spending money (or Ford money) on such ads. Must be scared of the results. Ontarians rising up, not waiting for the next election.
@TheRealDKGray
And overall inflation rate in Canada can't reduce until Albertans rise up and request the end of economic withholding. They are paying more for electricity than anywhere else in Canada and accept it?
@RealAndyLeeShow
Faced with the nation-wide housing crisis, there are many options. This is one of them. Zoning changes to increase density, expedient permit delivery, a rental registry, affordable units building (elders, students) are others. What do you propose?
@Garossino
Time to establish a national news platform, like Castanet in Kelowna (look it up). It has been more useful for local news than postings on Meta ever were.
@LeftHandStu
@PierrePoilievre
He will stand in the House of Commons stalling the passing of the budget for hours, while thousands of people have had to evacuate their homes and leave their schools and jobs because of forest fires. How about presenting a recovery plan for the people and the environment?
@EricDuncanSDSG
Anyone volunteering to drive people to vote, whoever they might be, deserve respect and gratitude (or volunteering in your riding of SDSG next election may be lower than expected).
@charlesadler
@WabKinew
I ❤️ Wab Kinew, and wish he was my provincial Premier. Moving to Manitoba is more and more appealing. A man of peace, reconciliation, unity abd clear objectives, with a contagious ever-present smile.
@onmeritemieux
@TheTorontoSun
@RachaelThomasMP
But you are OK with people getting sick, eapecially children, with COVID, being hospitalized and in UCUs, or dying. That's the main issue, apart from toppling the current government outside of elections.
@charlesadler
Not happening in Québec. There are propaganda media outlets in French too, but "boy" are they ever ridiculed. Are people not watching 22 minutes anymore? Rick Mercer must return.
It's 4 AM in Ottawa's silly season.
Pierre Poilievre announced he would force votes around the clock until Boxing Day.
He showed up for an hour and then left.
Now his Conservative MPs are trying to vote to defund money for Indigenous communities.
Ain't going to happen.
@ToulasTake
@ThomasGerbet
@ToulasTake
@maxfawcett
Fire the CEO also for slashing as many jobs at Radio-Canada (RC) than at the CBC. RC's ratings is 25% of the Canadian French viewers (CBC 5% rating); it brings in as much publicity revenue as does the CBC and competes with 4 private provincial and intl broadcasters. Unjust
@mtlgazette
Ben voyons. "Quebec has said visitors to government websites will have to click a box attesting they are eligible before accessing the English content."
@MarkGerretsen
You are so innocently unaware that this protest movement started with right-wing groups planning for a major disruption way before the pandemic. They waited for the right timing when fed-up persons would join in, and it worked. Wake up.
@ChantalHbert
@DonCochraneYOW
The premiers who maintain they can fight climate change in their jurisdictions through measures other than a tax (if that is the case) can propose that now. No need to meet all together, or with with the feds.
@maxfawcett
Catherine Tait wanted to make sure she got her own Christmas bonus this year, and in the future. CEOs are rewarded for trimming the workforce to avoid a deficit even if it's with meaness, at this time of year. She should be given the gift of a firing.
@kinsellawarren
Well check it out (it's a lie), today's National Post headline, on federal election day in four ridings. The NP trying to suppress liberal voters?
