@MattyParker94 @GarethDennis Disagree: I’ve seen people buy cheapest advanced ticket and travel hours before on peak time trains. Only way to stop this is to scrap advanced tickets which then creates all sorts of issues and likely raises cheapest ticket prices which are attractive to many.

@defsdoor @a_leesha1 No Andrew, it won't save just a few minutes. It will create capacity on our existing networks for more local, regional and freight trains. It will also cut a journey from Manchester to London by nearly an hour and from Birmingham to Leeds by over an hour.

One thing anti- #HS2 types can never grasp, is that HS2 allows the UK to transport more freight by rail taking HGV's off our roads. Average rail freight train can take up to 80 HGV's off our roads and reduce CO2 emissions by 75%. HS2 is green!

@Boca1965 Minimum service levels cannot be achieved without a significant amount of workers being forced to work despite being on strike. All minimum service levels will do is prolong strike action and affect passengers more. A stupid political decision by the corrupt and useless Tories.

Really disappointed seeing railway workers liking this. 1) They aren’t allowed to film on-board without permission 2) I’ve twice reported this in the past to control. One after a parent complained that her vulnerable daughter was in the background of a shot. Out of order.

@Penmcgregor @Turbostar19 @RichardWellings Funny how I've heard Network Rail are struggling to fill jobs on projects such as the transpennine route upgrade for works, because of HS2. Because the hours on HS2 are better - almost as if upgrading current lines involves a lot of night time and weekend work in comparison.

All that mining for raw materials, transporting them worldwide. HS2's carbon impact overall is one month of the UK's carbon impact. It's not comparable.

@MrAWJLawrence2 It's really not. Hyperloop is not a mass transit system and will not lower the price for travel. #HS2 has the capacity for over 21,000 people per hour. Hyperloop barely over 3,000.

@Stokebrewington @VedekJames @HannahAlOthman As it was under Virgin. Rest Day Working has been a common practice since British Rail and has benefitted both staff and TOC's. RDW agreements cannot be renewed without government approval, similarly wage rises. There's also a training backlog due to Covid.

What exactly is your transport position?! Because all I can see is sheer pointless posturing.
