I can't really make gloomy skies look less gloomy but here is today's view from Glastonbury. Photo taken this morning about half an hour before sunrise (not that we saw the sun rise today 😂)

Smokebox fittings painted an almost blinding white, Pickersgill D40 62262 runs along the River Spey near Grantown with a coal train on 2nd August 1954. Since the previous August with 62260's withdrawal, 62262 had been the last D40 built during the tenure of William Pickersgill.

This photo says it all. Just look at those smiles. Photo taken by our assessor, Andy Maxwell before departure on Saturday morning. A brilliant day with Driver Massey and Cleaner Nick Gilbert. This girl is starting to shine bright again.

It’s mind-blowing how well it’s held up — a stunning 1,800 year-old Roman mosaic floor from the House of Orpheus, Volubilis near Meknes, Morocco.

#OnThisDay 173 years ago King's Cross station was opened by the Great Northern Railway. Lewis Cubitt's magnificent pair of trainsheds were gradually hidden over the years before being unmasked in 2012 - a long overdue transformation. Image: Paul Wright https://t.co/rN94e4Qucx
