wasn’t sure why this service couldn’t run as a non-stop given that an ECS and a non-stop to Euston would basically be inseparable performance wise.

So it turns out that the decision around the 07:00 ECS run has been reversed. But it highlights: Cogent points around the effect of Open Access on the network & A GBR challenge on how well industry can deal with detailed nuance such as access right v service offering. Also ⬇️
What an irrelevant cut-and-paste knee-jerk response. This is nothing to do with ownership. It's a Regulatory decision. But thanks for confirmation that the second reading of the railways Bill still hasn't started.

the fundamental issue? cars are just not very good. this is a very easy journey on the Overground
This is London in 2025: ➡️ 9.6 miles ➡️ 1 hour ➡️ Middle of the day ➡️ Fewer cars, worse congestion Not because of demand — but because road capacity has been reduced. @SadiqKhan @TfL please stop creating gridlock and calling it “green policy”. #LondonTraffic

It's almost impossible to be consistent when you've totally abandoned your principles. How much lower can this Labour Government spiral?
Jury trials are a fundamental part of our democratic settlement. Criminal trials without juries are a bad idea. The Government need to pull their finger out and acquire empty public buildings across the country to make sure these can happen in a way that is safe.

This is bad folks, really really really bad.
🚨 NEW: The Government is set to scrap trial by jury for most cases Only murder, rape, manslaughter and a few public interest cases will go to a jury, while all other cases will be decided by a single judge [@thetimes]

What’s one of the biggest issues with our transport system? Lack of capacity What can help resolve this significantly? #HS2 Best not cancel it then…
Filming with @WTM_HS2 this morning. Over half of Brits would rather scrap HS2 than face more tax hikes in Rachel Reeves’ upcoming budget. Time to cancel HS2 once and for all.

The pager attacks were indiscriminate. They went off when people were at home with families, they went off in shops. Bystanders were killed. Also, many who carried the pagers were Hezbollah civilian workers. Thousands of people were wounded. The attack was an abomination.
@18_th_brumaire @PoliticsJOE_UK @TheGreenParty I was asked if the pager attack was more targeted/acceptable than genocide. It certainly is, but it's a choice between "the devil & dark blue sea". I said it could only be better if ended genocide with targeted warfare. I made clear that I do not want or support war or killing.

Everyone already knows that puberty blockers pose no risk as CIS children with precocious puberty are regularly prescribed. This trial will prove that the ban was all about transphobia.

Dozens of children will be given puberty blockers on the NHS from early next year after a trial was granted ethical approval. The study by King’s College London will recruit about 250 girls and boys...

Get your facts straight. Gaza was called "a textbook case of genocide" by Raz Segal. He's an Israeli-American associate professor genocide and Holocaust studies! I simply interviewed him. It is *the consensus* of genocide scholars that Israel has committed genocide in Gaza.

I’ve had many conversations & heated debates about why it’s important than men are part of every inclusion journey, THIS is a stark reminder of why. This #InternationalMensDay is a day to start including men in the journey because the inequalities they face affect us all!

This #InternationalMensDay we’re reminded that suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK. We all have mental health, and talking about it matters. Check in with the men in your life. Reach out. A small conversation can make a big difference.

I’m deeply grateful to so many men in my life, and I’ve learned how much difference a simple conversation can make. You mean a lot to so many people ❤️ A chat to check-in, someone who listens. It all counts, and it all helps. #InternationalMensDay

Also, we don’t improve the asylum system and the issues it causes by making it worse. How about we set up an actual system for people and let people work whilst their application is processed? 🤷

The generalised reasons DK has a tough immigration system (apart from institutional racism) is geographical (closer to the rest of 🇪🇺) & because they have something to protect… their high wage, high tax funded welfare system. I know what aspects I’d try to copy…

When seeing “Danish-style”, we should be emulating their welfare system, paid parental leave, excellent bike lanes & well funded health+social care systems. We should NOT be copying their awful worsening immigration system. I would know. I was an immigrant living there…
'Shabana Mahmood is going to make life measurably harder for genuine refugees. Why?' James O'Brien asks who the Home Secretary is appealing to with tougher, Danish-style immigration controls.
