The HS2 trolls come out to claim HS2 is Green. Not one of them has ever come up with a justification for designing a railway for 250mph. It's the major factor why it is so expensive & so destructive. The carbon deficit of its construction & width needed is greater than a motorway.

Unfortunately James Stewart's brief did not include looking at the origins of HS2. It is obvious that the problems began with lack of scrutiny of the initial concept & route. This was compounded by a failure to understand cost drivers, risk & the vast scale of the project.
