For all those that say it’s tougher now. We bought 1bed flat in 1981. Both worked full time. Everything we owned was 2nd hand. Never went out for meals. Rented tv.Struggled month to month. Only had new clothes for Xmas & Birthdays. So yes it was tough in the 80s just like today

My husband gets his pension next year & despite working all his life he’s had to pay two lump sums to receive full pension. If he had been on benefits he would get pension credit free to allow full pension. That doesn’t seem very fair to me. Again it shows it doesn’t pay to work.
