I absolutely doubt that. They want it to be as cheap as possible which means reusing existing chassis and parts. Why increase the price by making a dedicated chassis

Android has a similar feature that I think is far more intuitive, you go to the WiFi settings and hit a button to prompt a QR code, the other person just needs to scan with their camera. Apples solution is less taps but it doesn’t always pop up when it should.
