That was also the case in 2008, Sam. NPQH as a credible qualification for headship was at a low ebb. We had to recalibrate to make it harder to get onto the NPQH programme so that those who completed it were more likely to be ready for headship. It seems to be a recurring issue

A key issue is that so many people have accessed these before they’re professionally ready that it’s almost devalued them. A recalibration is needed.
