Going into my 26th year & leading @dustonschool has been/is a huge privilege. I’ve been honoured to be part of the Behaviour Hubs scheme & to sit on the trust board @leaderstoday & NITE’s steering group. It’s also humbling to have supported 1000s of other colleagues & be an FCCT.

2: subject knowledge is absolutely critical. You need to know your subject inside out. If you don’t you are going to be quickly found wanting. No end of pedagogical approaches will save you with a GCSE or A Level class, for eg, if you have no clue what you are talking about.

1: Behaviour is the biggest whole-school improvement driver there is. It is absolutely key to changing a school’ culture. It is the culture. Everything stems from it. You can talk curriculum, teaching etc all you like but if the kids don’t behave you’re whistling in the wind.
