Am I the only one who's looked back at the title for their ResearchEd National talk for this weekend and thought "oh cool, that session sounds interesting... I wonder what it's going to be about!" 😅

"Government should... provide a core backbone of qualifications... and then focus on building a flourishing ecosystem of high-quality PD, from which schools and teachers can choose freely." Bold yet balanced pushes from @hamer_marie and @LoicMnzs in this really important report!

It’s been a couple of years since @NPorter_ , founder of @unlockedgrads, called to ask why prisoners didn’t have access to Oak’s lessons. A fair challenge, it spurred work with the brilliant digital team at @MoJGovUK to roll out our resources across youth & adult prison estates

MPs voted this week to scrap the tax breaks handed to private schools. The money will instead go to supporting the 93% of kids who go to state schools. Yet Reform MPs voted to keep this tax break for the privileged few. Remember that when they pretend to be on your side.

We're excited to be launching a pilot programme for school leaders to focus on just this – supporting their ongoing efforts to foster engagement and increase the value and enjoyment pupils get out of coming to school every day.

Engagement = pupils' ‘connection with the school community’. When it's strong it has loads of positive outcomes: attainment, attendance, well-being. We can't influence it directly, but we can shape interactions that support pupils to feel valued, successful and heard.
