We will also be publishing the accompanying training manual, widening access to our uniquely successful approach to prison officer training in order to drive system-wide reform. ‘Leading Prison Landings: The Unlocked Guide to Jailcraft’ will be available later this year.

We are delighted to be partnering with @Steplab_co as we launch our new instructional coaching model for prison officers, covering more than 20 techniques to support new and experienced staff to become high-performing leaders and build transformative relationships with prisoners.

The House of Lords’ Justice and Home Affairs Committee has today published its “Better prisons: less crime” report, recognising the impact that the Unlocked programme is having, developing high-performing prison leaders who are driving real change on the landings.

Our MPOs play a vital role in our programme, working with our participants on the frontline of some of the toughest prisons in the country, supporting them to have the greatest possible impact, transforming prisoners' lives and breaking cycles of reoffending.

Those with lived experience of the justice system play a vital role on our programme from curriculum design through to recruitment and training. We also spend a lot of time speaking to prisoners to understand the impact that our participants are having.

We exist to break cycles of reoffending, and we believe that the way in which you do that is through prison officers. Prison officers are the agents of change in prisons, able to build transformative relationships with prisoners, changing the lives of those in their care.

Prisoners are at the heart of everything we do at Unlocked Graduates. And our participants are making a real difference to the lives of the prisoners they work with on the frontline of some of our toughest prisons.

We must focus on how we train and support prison officers to ensure they have the right tools to support prisoners into education and work programmes, ultimately improving outcomes and reducing reoffending.

Incentivising engagement with purposeful activity has the potential to make a real difference in our prisons, but this will only work if all prisoners have access to these opportunities.
