This is an actual bill demand for electricity from a leading energy retailer to an iconic grassroots music venue.
646% increase. £36,400 extra per year.
This is happening now.
We need a price gap for businesses NOW
We'd like to say thank you to all of the thousands of you that have been supporting us and your local grassroots music venue for the last 121 days. There is still a great deal to be done, but pretty soon we hope to post a tweet and it will say one thing:
Saved Our Venues
60 years ago today, The Beatles made their debut at Cavern Club Liverpool. John, Paul, George, Stuart & Pete had not long returned from Hamburg. They played at lunchtime and received £5. The Beatles would play The Cavern Club 292 times.
Every band starts somewhere.

NOISE COMPLAINTS - DON'T BE A NORMAN
We were sort of hoping to never ever have to post this meme again. But we have to report that music venues across the country are now besieged by vexatious and unwarranted noise complaints following their reopening after 18 months of closure.
THANK YOU
To all the artists, crew, & industry, journalists & broadcasters.
But most of all to you, the live music fans. The millions of you that love these eccentric, beautiful temples to music as much as we do.
Without people, you’re nothing.
#LETTHEMUSICPLAY
Today we stand with the whole music industry in solidarity with the people that make events in GMVs happen. We ask the Prime Minister and Chancellor to extend Furlough/Self Employment/Income Support Schemes to everyone in our sector unable to return to work.
AN OPEN LETTER TO RICHARD SHARP, CHAIR OF THE BBC BOARD
The Future of BBC Introducing
We are writing to you as a group of organisations that represent key stakeholders in the live music industry...
The artists are taking a test. The crew are taking a test. The staff are taking a test. That just leaves you, the audience to make your decision.
Please play your part and help us to Reopen Every Venue Safely.
#TakeATest
Please avoid the temptation to only arrive for the headline band. The support bands have also lost a year's worth of gigging and you never know, one of those support bands may end up being your next favourite band.

An alternative 5 phase plan for reopening grassroots music venues:

Phase 2,3,4,5: TBC - if there is a sector remaining to be reopened.

A live music event with less than 100 people, 1m social distanced, with table service only, isn't a live music event.
Could you please say what you mean, which is that you are closing live music. Then we can all deal with the consequences of that decision.
Thank you
@GregClarkMP
There is a broad agreement among MPs, across all parties, that swift and decisive action must be taken to protect grassroots music venues. The sector needs a £46million rescue, a roadmap to reopen, support to recover.

The government has today provide conditions under which initially socially distanced events, on 17 May, and then fuller capacity events, from 21 June, can take place.
While you're all sharing your musical highs this year, we wanted to remind you of some very real lows. This will only continue to happen unless we fight to keep our venues open.

This year, you helped us raise £3,872,512 for Grassroots Music Venues across the UK. These funds have been a vital lifeline to these venues and their staff throughout the ongoing crisis. (1/3)
