The government is announcing that it is making the Help to Save scheme permanent, helping millions on lower incomes to save and boost their financial resilience. Those eligible will receive a 50% bonus for every £1 they save over 4 years, a potential gain of £1,200.

Today’s Budget cuts energy bills for millions, with families saving around £150 and millions of lower-income households receiving other targeted discounts.

The government are increasing the National Living Wage to £12.71 an hour from April, giving full-time workers £900 more a year. This boost will help over 2 million people with the cost of living.

The government is scrapping the two child limit. This change will help lift hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty, break the cycle of disadvantage, and give every child the chance to thrive.

Online gambling and its profits have grown rapidly, increasing social harms to families and communities. That's why the government is increasing tax on online gaming from April 2026 to raise over £1 billion for public services, while protecting horseracing and bingo halls.

Those with the broadest shoulders should pay their fair share. That’s why the government is introducing a new surcharge - so a £2m mansion doesn’t pay less tax than a family home. This will help pay for the public services we all rely on.
