As covered by @BBCNews recently, many UK towns and cities have seen a drastic reduction in live music because bands and singers are playing half as many gigs on tour as they did in the 1990s. As our new figures show, artists are now averaging shorter tours.

Lovely to meet & talk about the highs & lows of running grassroots venues! Really enjoyed meeting the team from @ConfessionalFes & @SunbirdRecords #Saveourvenues #grassrootsmusic #Atherton
Last nights team visit to The Snug in Atherton was wonderful. What a venue, we loved it. And anybody attending our Confessional Takeover today at Blackburn Cathedral is in for a real treat, as The Dream Machine are a great band. @SnugAtherton

small venues need help to continue the work they do nurturing & encouraging new artists. The cost of 1 Oasis tkt is what we are talking for this gig.. £150 short on gig takings means an extra bar take to cover it of over £300. @musicvenuetrust @markdavyd @lisanandy @Kate_Dearden

🌟 Thank you for standing with us, @RhonddaBryant Your support gives us hope that we can save our grassroots music venues. Together, we can preserve these vital spaces for the music community! #SupportLocalVenues #SaveOrVenues
There’s an odd narrative emerging from @DCMS @RhonddaBryant that the government could help ‘slow down’ grassroots music venue closures. @musicvenuetrust is already doing that. We need action to halt closures entirely and rebuild back what we have lost.

“Small venues play a vital role in nurturing emerging talent, providing a platform for artists to grow and connect with audiences.” An interview with Rachel at @SnugAtherton on dynamic pricing and the influence of Oasis @MancWorldUK ✍️🎸 https://t.co/BVv7euDAVc

The term ‘dynamic pricing’ is one that you’ve probably seen a lot of in recent days.

Oasis getting back together is great news. It creates jobs, boosts the economy and spreads joy. Let's use the opportunity to finally get the music industry to understand where that all starts. These brilliant shows should be contributing to the grassroots sector. I hope they do
The sobering reality that only 11 of the 34 grassroots music venues that @Oasis played on their first tour still exist today. Gone are 23 spaces that took a punt on a new band from #Manchester who would become one of the most iconic in British music history. #Oasis #LiveMusic

A sobering post from @markdavyd here. To the Oasis naysayers, I’d very much recommend spending what you can supporting the venues that remain (and all independents) and the acts that share that spellbinding live experience with you in them. To the yaysayers, Merry Gallaghermas.
