Activism is not a social club. Activism is not about looking cool or morally righteous. Activism is not dunking on people. It's not when you ratio someone. Activism is about real world change. The rest is worthless if it doesn't lead to that.

This is a disgrace. These are being given for nothing more than political reasons to reward UCP areas. There’s no reason for any bars to follow rules when AHS doesn’t seem to care about them. #abpoli

Right-wing Catholics are the fucking worst and none of this is at all surprising. The equation of indigenous religions with devil-worship is very conservative Christianity in a nutshell. #EmptyThePews

This is the reason why fundamentalist religions are so dogmatic, cause once you question anything it all falls like a house of cards.

The real ethical problem with Christians. They can’t figure out how to act ethically if there’s no eternal punishment for things they don’t like. #EmptyThePews

@SbethCaplin @realrobbell I thought it was telling when Hell was taken off the table, people’s reaction was “then why believe?” as if the only reason to follow Jesus is to avoid eternal punishment. How unimaginative.

@xav_moss @AlecStapp The price people are willing to pay for Uber or Lyft is below the price it would cost in wages once you incorporate all the markups because Uber and Lyft are overhead heavy once they have to make a profit and not just set VC money on fire.

And this is why what @C_Stroop is doing is so important: they do not control us, and you can break free of them. You can leave and live a full and fulfilling life. That is the message the religious right hates the most.

Considering these intrusions, we should really have a permanent RCAF base in northern Canada. As of now, CF-18 are only permanently stationed at CRB Cold Lake and Bagotville. Neither of which helps us defend the North.

@GetOffMyLawnPod @C_Stroop Oh yes the poor old persecuted Christians who have the ear of the president and have special opt-outs from equality laws like Title IX. We will pray for a day when mega-preachers will be able to worship openly on cable television while asking for absurd donations.

What really annoys fundamentalists is having a story that does not conform to their acceptable contextualizations. For example, being gay and accepting of yourself and happy.

I think the one thing I’d add here is *timely* access to justice has disappeared across the Common Law world. It should not take (eg) a year for landlord-tenant disputes to be resolved. We need a massive expansion of our judicial capacity (judges, crown prosecution, courtrooms).

I used to joke on Reddit that anytime there was transit issues, “here comes the people saying we can’t be an inclusive city if we don’t let people do drugs on transit”. It was meant to be a straw-man. But there seems to be legitimate defenders of it and I don’t understand.

People’s brains are so poisoned by identity that they seemingly forget that we police *behavior*. Drunk, mentally ill, pissed off, bored, or who knows what — you are an issue to the extent that your behavior is an issue. We police behavior.

And yes, this kind of small symbolism is important. It shows the fundamentalist religious right they do not get to control the narrative and that we do not bow down to them. The religious right is authoritarian, the biggest fuck you to them is refusing them control.
