Every city council member is whining about how they won't be able to block housing any longer. It's their own damn fault. If NYC's housing production wasn't so pathetic under their watch, maybe we wouldn't be stripping them of their veto power.
If this policy were in place 5 years ago - the Gowanus Rezoning would have seen $0 for NYCHA, no deep affordable housing at Gowanus Green, no protections for Gowanus artists, no transit investments. Not sure Lander would be able to cite Gowanus Rezoning as proud accomplishment…

Honestly it should be considered child abuse to ever put your child in a car (even in a car seat) unless it's 100% necessary. Putting a child's life in that much danger just so you can go shopping or whatever then coping by TYING the child into a seat is insane behavior

Tariffs absolutely drive up prices. That's the *whole point* of tariffs! The theory says they stimulate domestic production. Prices on imports go up, domestic industry decides to produce more because they can now compete. If tariffs don't increase prices, wtf was the point?
Tariffs are not what's driving up prices, and cutting tariffs isn't going to lower them. What's driving up prices is corporate sludge. Cutting out corporate middlemen is how to cut prices. Tariffs didn't put you on hold with Comcast.
