Someone finally wrote about the absolute moral rot in journalism at the moment. Please pay attention to what Karen Ho — and other WOC in journalism— are saying https://t.co/gHPys4ZYAF

You can literally just judge individuals on the basis of their conduct or individual attributes rather than imputing to them the statistical average attributes of some identity group you’ve decided they belong to.

humans have this tendency to assume that just b/c one thing works in a particular area of the economy, it must work for them all. goods have different innate qualities that lend themselves to different optimal solutions. just b/c a freer market works for housing doesn't mean
Left-NIMBYs are correct to fear that. If freer housing markets improve people’s lives, it stands to reason—as is in fact true—that a freer market in other sectors will also lead to greater prosperity. At that point, true leftism is untenable and (at best) melts into welfarism.

I don’t respond to intentionally obtuse questions, you’re capable of researching. There’s too much learned helplessness on social media. Bring back curiosity & doing the work of learning and not getting angry at strangers online for not spoon feeding you easily verifiable things.

One of the saddest realizations being in tech is that a lot of capital allocation happens on vibes, networks, fomo, and marketing. I have said this to a lot of our researchers; the best and most rigorous science does not necessarily win. The downstream effects of that is that
I've just written a new post raising a series of concerns about Nucleus Genomics, a company that offers embryo selection services based on polygenic scores for couples undergoing IVF. I was shocked by the degree to which Nucleus's work is obviously plagiarized or simply wrong.

The Twitter location dox is the first acknowledgment of something thought unthinkable in the west, that China figured out long ago - that we do not owe the whole world membership in our town square.

So basically, Pakistan, Russia, Nigeria, India, and random Eastern European nations have been pretending to be Americans and grifting off of our political mess. Fomenting chaos for money.

Regardless of your race or political leanings, EVERY American should be bothered by the fact that so many outside irritants have been masquerading as Americans this whole time.
Your new screenshot includes an “!” next to your location and your old one does not. This is because you actually live in Russia, and used a VPN to change your location.

Wow, everything really is downstream of housing affordability. This paper (long but very interesting, recommended reading) makes a compelling case that our housing crisis helps explain the rise of the degen economy and the shape of Gen Z culture. What happens when young people

People accuse Americans (especially Black Americans) of having main character syndrome & exceptionalism... but one thing we're learning from the geodata is: We are exceptional, and the main characters. Otherwise, non-American accounts wouldn't constantly be in America business.
