Not just an issue for MPs. Huge brain drain from traditionally male-dominated, high-pressure, long-hours roles seen as prestigious a generation ago. Why? Partly bcos those jobs were often made possible by invisible/ unpaid labour of women - and women are no longer up for it.
I asked a Labour insider about this recently. Their answer? “No one with a family wants to do the job any more”. Which is, if true, a massive issue.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s almost as if the UK was run by a small group of privileged, intellectually mediocre men who - unlike most of the country - have zero experience of caring for their own small children or being reliant on affordable childcare to do their jobs

Dear authors, publicists & publishers. When writers generously provide quotes based on proofs, make sure we are a priority to receive the published book itself. We shouldn't have to ask for a copy, that often even then doesn't arrive. A little consideration goes a long way.
