Very important post. AI is susceptible to all kinds of biases because it draws from data that has internal biases. Thank you for pointing this out.
@drseanmullen
It's predicted between 1/30 to 1/20 people will be COVID+ in January. Waitstaff in restaurants can be exposed to 100+ people daily. Smart employers will have staff wearing masks, Hepa filters, good ventilation, at the very least for their bottom line and employee's health. 2/2

@RepAdamSchiff
@RepJerryNadler
We are now entering formal authoritarianism where separation of branches of the government are dissolving. This can not be allowed. Unfortunately, we can't rely on the R-Congress to set limits. It will be up to the D-House and the courts.
Anti-Vaccination is becoming the greatest public health threat in the US, not just for COVID, but for many preventable infectious diseases due to misinformation and the purposeful spread of falsehoods. Your primary care doctor's vaccination guidance saves lives.
@BandyXLee1
Malignant narcissist leaders often commit democide. The President is doing this "efficiently" (note word) by purposefully denying coordination of assistance to states and implementing a national plan. He seeks to sow chaos and incite, hoping to claim dictatorial power.
@yourauntemma
Malignant Narcissists declare in public their evil doings -> they think they won't be held accountable because of grandiosity. His psychopathy ->democide (killing own people). He doesn't care about the 10s of 1,000's of his own supporters who died from COVID of his own doing.
@PeteUK7
Excellent thread. Maslow's hierarchy: once a tipping point of masklessness emerged, most people felt too uncomfortable to not be in that group. When I give a lecture to medical students, I'm one of two or three other people who are masked out of 120 students/faculty who are not.
@paulkrugman
It’s disconcerting when news anchors don’t call out Mr. Kudlow on his distortion. They should play clips of Mr. Trudeau’s conference. Without this data, Trump’s supporters will buy into the narrative.
@haileybanack
I’ve seen many posts addressing shame after being infected. We doctors are susceptible to that when something happens out of control. Your carefulness has already saved lives by limiting the spread a bit. Hope you recover quickly. 🙏
@drseanmullen
Absolutely. I have patients who have been sick multiple times and ran out of paid sick days. Their income dropped as a result, and not for a brief period of time. One patient hasn't been able to return to work full time since 2021....1/2

This. 👇 although I don’t agree with every sentence of this thread, I do agree with the general statement: We’re in deep sh*t if things don’t change. Our society’s reaction to COVID is now primarily emotional, not proactive, causing most Americans to be…
@chrislhayes
Mental health professionals imagined it. I wrote an op ed in April 2016, "Donald Trump has Psychopathic Traits," sent it to 10 media outlets. No one published it. Clinicians like

@AlisaValdesRod1
… self defeating or cynical or arrogant or resigned or passive or selfish. This extends to healthcare professionals who have largely stopped wearing masks in non-clinical settings. We’ll see what will happen this fall and winter with the next waveS and rise in Long COVID…

@LindseyGrahamSC
@RepSwalwell
Has someone in the press specifically asked Lindsey Graham what he & the President discussed that caused him 2 so abruptly change his opinion Mr. Trump after he played golf with him? He won't answer, I'm sure, but it would be important to hold him accountable 4 his answer
@RWPUSA
Yes. Enough is enough. Voting to restore democratic majorities in November is the most important vote we will make in our lifetimes. No one who can vote should stay home.
@SteveSchmidtSES
It’s more than an abuse of power. It’s more than a political stunt. He is testing the waters to use the troops for other political purposes. Foreshadowing of martial law. Did we see Gen Mattis say no to him? Everyone must vote D all the way to save the republic!!
@tribelaw
@HuffPostPol
We are inching closer to fascism. November is the election for the soul of this country. Everyone with a soul who believes in our Constitution's core principles must vote.
@TheChalis
Please read this extremely important post. We need public funding/OSHA regulations to limit COVID and combat social drivers of illness/death/poverty. We don't need misinformation, distraction, photo ops from elected officials hypnotizing people to believe "the pandemic is over"
@funder
I do believe this is irrelevant, as much as I detest the candidacy of Roy Moore, unless the dad used political leverage to help his son avoid appropriate penalties.
@kaveri59872487
I share your frustration. It’s group think/avoidance/denial. A public health tragedy that’s ongoing and it will get worse with reinfections. It befuddles me why doctors have largely stopped wearing masks in non clinical situations.
@StashColTV
I've never gotten COVID. I think it may be a combination of masking indoors, having HEPA filters, being vaccinated, and washing hands (people do get COVID and can sneeze.) It's also a combination of luck and privilege (eg, I can afford masks.)
#freeN95s
@calirunnerdoc
This👇👇👇 1) high quality masks, 2) vaccinations, 3) ventilation, 4) hepa filtration, 5) social distancing. Think of the long game. COVID is not going away soon. I appreciate your exhaustion. Keep in mind that repeated COVID increases your risk for long COVID. Stay safe. 🙏
@waltshaub
Regardless, the link between Trump, Inc and SA is damning as is. This is dangerous transnational kleptocracy, authoritarianism and pathocracy with no moral bounds. Now nuclear technology, pay to play??? The infected US government must be strongly treated in 2020.
@tribelaw
It's about investigating conspiracy, collusion, violations of the Constitution, corruption, endangering National Security. If that's not a productive use of impeachment hearings, what is? Not to proceed is a dereliction of duty. 2/2

If you haven't dealt with psychopaths, it's hard to imagine because they think very differently from the rest of us. No moral compass, no empathy, no boundary between their needs and others' lives. Look at last four years. Now is a simple extension. Extrapolate tomorrow...2/2
@CDCDirector
@CDCDirector
, you know that mask-wearing and other interventions are all essential. The absence of these suggestions in your tweet is deeply disappointing and reflective of a lack of courage in the CDC. I'm a Democrat and Biden supporter, but this is a big failure.
@JeromeAdamsMD
Thank you for posting this
@JeromeAdamsMD
. Dr. Collins raises an important point. One gap is leaders present decisions as right/wrong, rather than explaining uncertainties/limited data and why decisions are being made as best as possible. This is one reason people dig into camps.
@benjaminwittes
@RVAwonk
They have and will continue to defy their oaths of office. Why? Because self interest means much more to them. Vote! November! Kick as many bums out of office as possible. Patriots will then have committe chairs and the bums will be held accountable.

@Alba_Dawn
This is terrible. I can't imagine what that feels like. I hope women across the country stand up and push back with outrage. I, as a man, will join. Vote, donate time and/or money as you can, call representatives (federal and state), protest .

This underscores how impeachment proceedings are investigative proceedings that can continue to uncover evidence of criminal and corrupt activity. I am more convinced this will be constructive in
@2020

It's hard to understand his thinking if you haven't worked with malignant narcissists. Grandiosity: My minions will not be infected; Sadism: I will kill the people who feed me. Psychopathy: To be the orator for 25,000. Who cares if it kills them? Deeply warped
@yourauntemma
@NatashaBertrand
Things are approaching an unraveling point.
Call your elected representative to ask for an emergency session of Congress to pass HR 669 / S 200 which requires Congressional approval before a nuclear first strike can be ordered. We all have to be alive to heal the country.

Mueller report was not just about Trump. It discussed the cyberwar Russia has deployed against the US. If the Pres sides with our enemy in a cyberwar, is that not treason?
@kylegriffin1
Any other President at any other time in history would have been pressured by his own party to resign. This is a symptom of critical illness in our current admnistration. The cure is removal of the whole bunch in 2020–removal of Mr. Trump leaves much of the cancer in place.
@SteveSchmidtSES
@carogonza
Only ONE Repub cosponsored bills to require Congress to authorize a nuclear first strike, taking this out of the hands of the President. We know the president is unraveling. We need to pressure Congress to pass S200/HR466, requiring congressional approval for nuclear strike. 1/2

Makes sense. This will all come out in the wash if we continue to have an independent judiciary. Any attempt by the President to obstruct this investigation by firing Mr. Rosenstein or Mr. Mueller should be met by mass peaceful protest in the streets.
@tribelaw
It truly is about the survival of our governmental structure. If the Democrats don’t win one branch of Congress we will have a dictatorship by 2020. Not hyperbole. Handwriting’s on the wall.
@DavidJollyFL
And for the record, Mr. Mueller did not comment on collusion, only conspiracy. He also did not say there was not conspiracy, just not sufficient evidence. And for the record, Mr. M also noted lack of cooperation by witnesses and destruction of evidence. 1/2

I'm sorry to hear about this Dr. Porter. What abuse! Have you contacted the state agency that hears complaints? Writing the CEO of the company? I know you have loads on your plate, but it may make the company more attentive to your care moving forward. My thoughts are with you.
@pot8um
I'm a doc and I mask whenever I'm indoors (groceries, teaching in a med school), often only a couple of other people masking. I've gotten some bad autoimmune responses after a viral illness. Interestingly, I'm NOVID but I'm not going to see how COVID affects me. 🙏🙏🙏
@StevenBeschloss
They fear their base. They need to educate and inspire their base with higher aspirations than fighting non existent external threats, instead, uniting to meet real challenges such as climate change, automation taking jobs, health care, AND negotiating across the aisle.
@Susan_Hennessey
@JoyceWhiteVance
You are absolutely right. We are headed to a constitutional crisis and if the Republicans can't stand up and protect our constitution, they must be voted out of office. November. Vote!
@sarahkendzior

is an expert in authoritarianism. Follow her wisdom. Trump was elected because the Republican Party, despite better judgment, decided to support him in order to sustain the larger system. This became more apparent as Trump devolved and R's did not push back.
@psvbluemts
Everyone needs to listen to Dr. Duncan's riveting 12 min video. IMO, a huge public health failure has been the lack of education about
#LongCovid
, how reinfection increases the probability of Long COVID, and how we need ongoing mitigation strategies (
#MASKS
,
#vaccination
, etc.)
@RBReich
So true. And the party behind him. They are almost all afraid of being primaries. If we’re lucky enough to get the theee branches of government in D hands I hope they rewrite the rules of governance (not the same as the Constitution) to hale this erosion.

for an alternate level of dialogue that can raise the dignity of the country.
Why is impeachment of Mr. Trump is important at this moment of history? This is not a partisan argument. This is about the dangerous instability that the country is in. I would advocate for impeachment of any President of any party under similar circumstances. 1/

He is absolutely correct. Congress must, in an emergency session, pass a law that requires 2/3 (or 3/4) vote to authorize a nuclear first strike. Call your Congresspeople and ask them to support bills HR 669 / S 200 !!!
@EdKrassen
We are seeing the first floor of a brutal dictatorship being built before our eyes.
November will be the most important election in generations.
We see what will happen even more so if Dems don’t control Congress.
@kathryniveyy
I hope u have the emotional & spiritual support that u & ur colleagues need. The CDC & most of the country has failed this test of inner strength, opting for distraction, denial, &avoidance of the real challenges, which require ongoing mitigatation thru boosters, masks, etc.)
