"I don't feel sorry for congress at all. Oh, I'm sorry, did you have to hide under your desk because of guns? Wah wah wah. I've only had to do that six times since kindergarten. School is terrifying. Maybe now they'll pass gun reform." - one of my 9th grade students, today

Can't wait for the Oppenheimer buzz to die. The bomb those men built? They dropped in on New Mexico to test it. On my mother. She was 18 months old, in the fallout zone. Of the 21 girls in her high school class, 17 had leukemia. Tell THAT fucking story, Hollywood.

My son's dad left me for his current wife. I stayed single, raised my son alone. When he was 15 I said I was glad he had his "other parents" to model a relationship because I couldn't. My son said, "You taught me something more important, which is how to be happy on my own." 😭

This quote, from the @nytimes review of the OPPENHEIMER film: "He served as director of a clandestine weapons lab built in a near-desolate stretch of Los Alamos, in New Mexico"... It was inhabited by Hispanos. They were given less than 24 hr to leave. Their farms bulldozed. 1

The mechanism of SARS2? Endothelial damage. In plain English? Covid-19 fucks up the lining of your blood vessels. All 60,000 miles of it. Blood vessels lack nerves. You feel OK as it eats your arteries. Doesn't mean it's "mild." It means the endothelium isn't innervated.

I asked my friend in Cuba today if they're still wearing masks. "Of course we are," she said. "Covid still exists." Cuba has one of the highest triple-vaccinated rates in the world, 99% over age 2 are vaccinated. Average 1 death per day. Still masking, even outdoors. By law.

But, no. We want more films about the "complex and troubled" "heroic" white men, who conducted their GENIUS in a "virtually unpopulated" place. These are ALL lies. This is mythology in service to white supremacy and the military industrial complex, masquerading as "nuanced." 8

So, what happens when the endothelium is damaged? Well, the first thing to go are your capillaries and arterioles. They're the smallest blood vessels. One endothelial cell thick. If the endothelium is damaged, they can disappear, get clogged, leak. This won't show up on Xray.

When my son, then 19, went to the ER in 2020 with post-covid tachycardia and POTS, the only thing they did was test the young brown man with a Spanish surname for drugs. He was a National Merit Scholar and marathon runner. The RAGE, people. I still feel it.

Had a Zoom with clients recently. Of the 5 people there, all teachers, none knew of Long Covid. One said a 1st grader where she teaches just dropped dead. Another said she had Covid 4 months ago and still can't breathe right...1/3

One of my friends ignored my pleas to stop being reckless about getting covid over and over. "I've had it, and I was fine," she said. She got it a 4th time in sept and is surprised how bad it has been. She's not getting better 3 months later. She's asking for advice now. Sigh.

Not sure who needs to hear this, but I've recovered from #LongCovid enough to have hiked 4.7 miles in steep terrain Sunday, 95 degrees out; rented a Uhaul, packed up a 3-bedroom, 2-bath house and moved to a new house Monday & today, 12 hours work per day. Took 26 mos. 😃🥳

One of my good-time-only friends heard I was feeling better and immediately invited me out to a restaurant. I'm like...dude. I am NEVER going to a restaurant again. "But you're better now." Yeah, and I want it to stay that way. So many think you can't get this virus again.

Seeing tons of posts from people getting covid-19 despite their N95 masks. I have no financial choice but to start a new day job tomorrow, in person, in an office where only one other person masks. There is no safe way to do this, is there? Needing to work is risking my life.

I'm seeing SO MANY people posting their + tests this week, getting infected in N95 masks. Is Paxlovid even working for the newer variants? I can't believe this is the world we live in. Forced mass endless infection with a disease that destroys the brain, heart and blood vessels.

Two friends who have allowed their kids to keep getting reinfected at school "so they can be normal" now tell me their teen daughters have Long Covid. One kid keeps pushing through sports only to crash the next day. These are all people who told me I was rare, they were fine.

An old friend just called me the "Queen Covid" and mocked me for still taking precautions against a disease that nearly killed me and did kill my son's beloved grandmother. When a society becomes this sadistic it seem to me to have stopped being a society at all.

Not sure who needs to hear this but being vaccinated does NOT prevent Long Covid. I was recently on a radio show with the head of a major health-care company who said being vaccinated prevents Long Covid. Either she was lying or doesn't know the truth. Either way she was wrong.

Starting thread of how I eat in a day to keep my Long Covid in remission. Symptom-free for 9 weeks, I am not recovered. If I deviate from my protocol, symptoms return. This is not medical advice, just my story. 1/n

I am up past midnight writing songs. I have my full vocal range back for the first time in 25 months. Paxlovid has cured my Long Covid, at least for now. No one is more astonished than I am. I have so much energy and feel so normal. I never thought I'd feel like this again.

New findings, 3+ years into Long Covid. My brain MRI yesterday showed small blood vessel disease of the brain, areas of white matter hyperintensities from either ischemia or demyelinatiom. I was in perfect health in Feb 2020. Now I have the brain of an 80-year-old chain smoker.

Words matter in this battle. BRAIN DAMAGE, not brain fog. PARESIS, not fatigue. PERMANENT ORGAN DAMAGE, not GI issues. WIDESPREAD, not rare. PERMANENT SENSORY LOSS, not "temporary loss of smell or taste," "blurry vision," or "temporary tinnitus." Science needs poets.

With Covid cases going vertical in NM I asked to please be allowed to do my keynote for a big childhood health conference in ABQ remotely this week. The organizers, who admitted having gotten covid two weeks ago at another such conference, fired me and demanded the deposit back.
