The stereotypes of the unhoused are simply not true. They are working class people who have been priced out of housing. Many of us are just 1-2 paychecks away from homelessness.
Sweeps are harmful and solve nothing.
Housing first policies with services are the only answer.
Seco has a full-time job and Seco lives in a tent homeless in North Hollywood. Seco had to take unpaid time off from work to move all of his belongings so they would not be thrown away in a homeless sweep.

Today the Los Angeles City Council had no issue with approving a current fundraiser Alex Johnson of Bryson Gillette, whose firms sole purpose is
to get officials elected.
Yet many of those same CM’s were “concerned” over Jamie York’s fundraising past.

In Los Angeles 50% of the budget goes to LAPD. Last thing we need is to spend 300k on a robot dog that could kill. Those funds could be invested towards affordable housing, healthcare, food security, job training, arts, sports, theatre. These are essential to heal our community.
Tomorrow, Council will vote on whether to approve the donation of a “Quadruped Unmanned Ground Vehicle” AKA a “robot dog” for LAPD Metro’s SWAT. I’m voting “no” and we need Angelenos to tap in and call on their Councilmembers to do the same.

Why do we elect leaders who choose militarization, not humanity? With a decrease in crime, the last thing needed is an increase in LAPD budget. We need to invest in housing, services, and our people. In 2024, it’s our time. Let’s choose the people and vote out the status quo.
With that, the City Council has offered LAPD $1 billion over 4 years in pay raises. This comes with no public comment in front of the whole council, and no remote public comment at all.
