Rent-stabilized unit rent increases in LA City are capped at 10% a year. (The increase is calculated based on inflation.). The LA Housing Dept has recommended the rent increase maximum be lowered to 5%, closer to other cities’ maximums.

🚨TODAY, July 1, the yearly allowed rent increase (up to 5%* this year) for rent-stabilized units takes effect. *For MOST rent-stabilized units, the max increase is 3%. But IF your landlord pays gas &/or electricity, they can increase up to another 2% (1% for each they pay).
