Mayor of Los Angeles. Coalition builder. Changemaker. Let's do this — together. This account is being used for campaign purposes by Karen Bass for Mayor 2022
9 months ago, we brought more than 100 people living in encampments outside of the Gold’s Gym in Venice inside through Inside Safe.
This is what that street looks like 9 months later.
No more kicking the can down the road. Tents are coming down and Angelenos are getting housed.
Senator Kamala Harris has spent her entire life fighting for the people. I would never want to be labeled the “anti-Kamala Harris.” We’re fortunate to have had her as Attorney General and now as Senator. She would be an excellent VP and the same goes for anyone else on the list.
In many ways, Karen Bass is the anti-Kamala Harris.
And yet, the Californians have ended up in a similar spot: On Joe Biden's vice presidential shortlist
Let me be clear — my top priorities as Mayor of Los Angeles will be to get Angelenos housed, and to make our city safer and more affordable for all.
And that work has already begun.
"When Roe was overturned, it became abundantly clear that Los Angeles, like the rest of the country, needs leaders who will stand up for women's healthcare and our full equality and there's no doubt in my mind that Karen will do just that."
Thank you
@HillaryClinton
!
This evening, Los Angeles received another bus from Texas.
That means that while we were urging Angelenos to stay safe, the Governor of Texas was sending a bus with families and toddlers straight towards us KNOWING they’d have to drive right into an unprecedented storm.
Evil.
Do something today that helps
@JoeBiden
become the next President of the United States and
@KamalaHarris
become the next Vice President of the United States.
It should not take 14 years just to break ground on an affordable housing project in a city where there are 40,000 people sleeping on the street every night.
@KamalaHarris
is a great choice for Vice President.
Her tenacious pursuit of justice and relentless advocacy for the people is what is needed right now. 1/
Tim Scott is an honorable man. It doesn’t matter what party you’re in – the journey of his family, from cotton to Congress in one lifetime, should be celebrated.
The second largest city in one of the richest countries in the history of the world should not have 40,000 people sleeping on its streets every night.
This is a crisis, which is why I declared a state of emergency.
We will do everything in our power to house Angelenos.
Los Angeles must move in a new direction, and that is not possible unless the four individuals caught on that tape resign from their offices immediately.
I'm humbled and honored to have the support of President
@BarackObama
because he understands the gravity of the crises in Los Angeles.
We must bring unhoused Angelenos inside immediately and make this city safer and more affordable for all.

Los Angeles needs a mayor who can be trusted to stand up to the gun lobby and has a history of working to get guns off of our streets.
My opponent says he's a Democrat, but he only became a Democrat 3 weeks before he launched his campaign.
My opponent says he's a builder, but he's never built a single unit of affordable housing.
Rick Caruso simply does not tell the truth.
#LAMayorDebate
The Democratic Party isn't accepting my opponent because he's a Republican who only became a Democrat weeks before he announced he was running for mayor.
I'm the only pro-choice Democrat running to be Mayor of Los Angeles.
#Fox11Debate
Rick Caruso has spent $90 million lying about himself and lying about me.
I was just asked if I had $90 million, what I would do with it.
The answer is simple: I would build housing for thousands of people who sleep on our streets every night. Right away. Without hesitation.
We won the primary.
That’s thanks to the power of the people.
I want to thank the hundreds of thousands of supporters and volunteers who knocked on doors, phone banked, and came out to our community events. 1/
Rick Caruso was a lifelong Republican. He became a Democrat just 18 days before announcing he was running for mayor.
There is only one true pro-choice Democrat in this race.
It's official -- there will be a runoff in November. Between now and then, we’ll bring folks from every corner of L.A. together to build a better city for ALL.
We're in the fight for the soul of Los Angeles.
With your help, we're going to win.

The most important issue facing America right now is a pandemic that has killed 144,000 Americans and the economic free-fall that has transpired because of it.
It’s time to end the nightmare this country has endured for the past three and a half years.
New numbers just released in the race for L.A. Mayor and Karen Bass extends her lead.
Yesterday, she was up 4,400 votes.
Now, she’s up 9,463.
There are likely hundreds of thousands of votes still to count.

As I said on Thursday when I became Mayor-elect, my administration will be ready to tackle the crises our city is facing on Day One.
Thank you to Mayor Garcetti, City Council President Paul Krekorian and LAPD Chief Moore for meeting with me as we prepare for a new day in L.A.
Rick Caruso says he's a Democrat, but he only became one 3 weeks before he launched his campaign.
He says he's a builder, but he’s spent $100 million lying about himself and $0 building any actual affordable housing in our city.
L.A. deserves better.
What would Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. do about 40,000 people sleeping on the streets of Los Angeles?
Would he want them moved or arrested?
No.
He’d want them helped and housed.
Join me in honoring the life of Dr. King with action.
If we come together and focus on solutions rather than jurisdiction and on linking arms rather than pointing fingers, we will save lives in our city.
That is my mission as your mayor.
Los Angeles, you elected me to lead and that is exactly what I will do.
🚨New numbers from the

@CBSLA
Angelenos all over L.A. have started to get their ballots in the mail.
Vote to be heard. Vote to move our city forward. Vote to be united.
This election is how we can come together and build a better city for all of us.
Thank you
@johnlegend
for standing with me in this fight.
Mitch McConnell is the one standing in the way of raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour throughout the country.
We can vote him out in November 2020.
Just to be crystal clear, Donald Trump is the reason we have a Supreme Court that overturned Roe and set in motion a cycle to put the lives of women all across the country at risk.
There is no lie he can tell to erase that fact.
This is the exact type of hate that I will not tolerate as mayor.
We will aggressively root out anti-Semitism.
It has no place in our city and never will.
Someone building affordable housing should not have to wait in line for permits behind a luxury real estate developer who has never built a single unit of affordable housing.
When I’m mayor, this city will treat the homelessness crisis like the emergency it is.
No matter who you voted for, I will be a mayor for YOU.
That’s the only way forward.
The crises we are facing affect us all, and all of us must be a part of the solution.
Together, we will get big things done in this city.
“Make no mistake, there is only one proven pro-choice Democrat in this race, and Karen Bass has devoted her life to serving her community.” - President
@BarackObama
To the people of our city, my message is this:
We are going to solve homelessness.
We are going to prevent and respond urgently to crime.
Our city is no longer going to be unaffordable for working families.
And know this — that work has already begun.
I am the only person running for mayor of Los Angeles who hasn’t spent more than 30 years of their life being a Republican, supporting Republican causes and donating to Republican candidates.
The choice in this race is clear.
I am the only 2022
@MomsDemand
Action Gun Sense Candidate running for mayor of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles deserves a mayor we can trust to stand up to the gun lobby, not cower before them.
My number one job as mayor will be to keep Angelenos safe.
Young people have grown up thinking that the homelessness crisis is just simply part of living here in Los Angeles.
It hasn't always been that way — and I'm working every day to bring Angelenos together to make sure this crisis will NOT be a part of our future.
Thank you Second Gentleman
@DouglasEmhoff
for joining me on the

tour!
Your support and the support of Vice President
@KamalaHarris
isn't just for show — it's about working together to address the crises our city is facing.
We can do this — together!
Today's the day!
I want to thank the thousands of volunteers who have poured their heart and soul into this campaign thus far -- now is the time to head to the ballot box and VOTE!
Find out where to vote here:
Anti-Semitism is on the rise. We must all condemn the hate spewed by Kanye West, which has real consequences that we saw in Los Angeles this weekend.
Until they sever ties, Adidas is enabling and financing his hate -- they must act now.
We feel great about the numbers so far. As we await the next rounds of updates, know we're already rolling up our sleeves to launch urgent solutions for homelessness, crime and affordability.
The people of L.A. sent a clear message last night.
I am ready to answer their call.
When I talk about confronting the homelessness crisis, I’m not talking about hiding people.
I’m talking about helping people.
I’m talking about housing people.
Together, we can. Together, we will.
Together, we will bring unhoused Angelenos inside.
Together, we will make our city safer.
Together, we will make our city more affordable.
Los Angeles is a city of unlimited potential. Together, we will get big things done.
When we align on all levels of government, we can get big things done together.
Proud to stand with Vice President
@KamalaHarris
today to announce that we have DELIVERED for the people of Los Angeles.
Living in fear of mass shootings is not living in freedom.

Action Gun Sense Candidate running for mayor of Los Angeles.
My number one job as mayor will be to keep Angelenos safe. Our city deserves a mayor we can trust to get guns off our streets.
Rick Caruso has spent $90 million trying to buy this election because he wants to cover up the fact that he is a lifelong anti-choice Republican who served as a senior advisor to Donald Trump.
His campaign is a con.
Here’s the truth:
Thousands of people could've been housed in Los Angeles with $80 million.
My opponent is a billionaire real estate developer who has never built a single unit of affordable housing.
🚨L.A. mayoral candidate Rick Caruso has now put more than $80 million into his campaign. 🚨
He crossed the threshold with another $900k filed today, bringing the total he's put in to $80.28 million, by my count.
Of course Kellyanne Conway would support a Republican billionaire’s homelessness plan that models housing on immigrant detention camps for kids.
Rick Caruso and Kellyanne Conway are both wrong for Los Angeles.
Los Angeles deserves a mayor we can trust to stand up to the gun lobby, not cower before them.
I'm the only 2022

Action Gun Sense Candidate in this race.
My number one job as mayor will be to keep Angelenos safe.
Los Angeles is preparing for the impact of a HURRICANE approaching the west coast.
It is becoming increasingly unfathomable that there are elected officials in this country that continue to deny the existence of climate change.
To the thousands of people who worked on my campaign, thank you.
To everyone who will join our mission to move L.A. in a new direction, thank you.
We will get big things done together.

Tomorrow, we will stand united, and we will take a giant step towards bringing a brighter future to Los Angeles.

Kellyanne Conway advised Trump while he separated families at our border. Now she says "there's something to" my opponent's homelessness plan.
"He's going to tackle it like a business guy would."
We've seen this movie before. We will not go back.
Rick Caruso is wrong for L.A.
California is better because of her work as Attorney General and stronger because of her work as Senator.
Now all Americans will benefit from her work as Vice President.
I will do everything I can to help her and
@JoeBiden
win in November. 3/3
My opponent is proposing shelter beds modeled after an immigrant detention center in Texas.
He says he's a builder but he's never built a single unit of affordable housing.
Rick Caruso is not going to solve homelessness in Los Angeles.
#KarenBassForMayor
Governor
@GavinNewsom
has delivered countless times for Los Angeles over just the past year helping us address homelessness, rebuild after the 10 freeway fire and recover from recent storms.
Republican recalls do nothing more than waste taxpayer dollars and valuable time.
This is the city where I was born and raised, and when I was in the voting booth, I thought of my parents – my mother and father, who took care of me and my three brothers growing up and made sure there was always food on the table. 2/
We won because of PEOPLE POWER.
Thank you to our door knockers, our phone bankers, our culture leaders and everyone who came together to make history.
This is more than a campaign, this is a movement — and we will continue to work together to get big things done in this city.
