My father felt like he heard an early version of the “I Have a Dream” speech when he spent time with Dr. King after being the only politician who agreed to meet him at LAX in 1961. Years ago, I got to meet his son, @OfficialMLK3, and tell him how much that day meant to my dad.

62 years after his father delivered the “I Have a Dream” speech, @OfficialMLK3 reminds us of our challenge to live up to America’s ideals. The past few months have been a reminder for me that the arc of history does not bend towards justice on its own. We bend it.
While we have marched many miles toward freedom, we find ourselves, yet again, in a moment of moral reckoning. I still believe in the dream — not as a distant hope, but as a call to action.

The federal government is making huge cuts to SNAP benefits. We may be forced to cut *one-third* of LA County's CalFresh program. Average taxpayers aren't paying less in federal taxes—we are paying the same amount we always have. But we are getting less in return.

📣 3-month closure of a NB 110 on-ramp & SB SR 47 off-ramp near the Vincent Thomas Bridge begins Monday. Commuters should use Gaffey Street in San Pedro to access the NB 110, and drivers exiting SB SR 47 will be rerouted via Pacific Avenue to Harbor Boulevard. More info 👇.
