Proudly supporting the UK’s finest export industry - medicine. Definitely not a doctor. #CCTandFlee #BMA1948

@wesstreeting Dear Mr Streething, I fucked off to Canada after CCT because the NHS you so proudly run imposed a hiring freeze and I couldn’t get a job. Now I’m back doing a bit of locum work and earning serious coin during the strikes. Thanks for pissing off another generation of doctors.

These dinosaur consultants don't have a clue
This comment on my HSJ story about the resident doctors' pay offer is likely to raise some hackles. I do think things have changed almost unrecognisably for resident doctors compared to those in consultant posts now - and probably not for the best.

Wes @wesstreeting The same-day emergency care (SDEC) unit in my hospital is staffed by: 🔻2 ACPs (god knows what base profession) 🔻2 ANPs (nurses) 🔻4 physician assistants 🔻1 clinical pharmacist This means 9 doctor posts are permanently occupied by people who are allowed

Facts vs Fiction : GP Partners earnings Information shared publicly on GP income is based on Tax returns which includes all income sources not just NHS High earning GPs are the exception the median is the real income PM earnings 2023/24 just 1.5% of GPs earn the same as the PM
1 in 3 GP partners now earn more than the PM, so the BMA's claim they lack resources for online bookings simply isn't credible. We’ve backed general practice with £1.1bn extra funding & by employing 2,500 more GPs - because people deserve a modern service https://t.co/ck8fh9ZEkd

NHS management circle jerk in full action.
NHS England's former CEO Amanda Pritchard received pay in lieu of notice of £105,000-£110,000 and a Lieu of Annual Leave payment of £5,000-£10,000. Her salary was £265,000-£270,000. She left NHSE in March and joined @GSTTnhs NHSE's annual report here: https://t.co/VSvarE1vvI

Dear resident doctors Please strike hard
The Government are gearing up for another real terms pay cut for doctors (with a recommendation of just 2.5%). When will Wes Streeting get serious about averting strikes and end this dispute? https://t.co/oxCBk6hg6k

@thetimes So this is a document written by two non-medical people, who’ve never undergone medical training or worked in a clinical capacity. For some reason they’ve re-invented the wheel by suggesting a speciality that already exists: Acute Medicine.

@wesstreeting For context, other NHS workers get 50% extra per hour for enforced overtime above 37.5 hours. Doctors get none of that and when this unfair discrepancy was suggested, you shot it down.

@DrNeenaJha A first year Trainee ACP ordered X-rays on me, reviewed them and discharged me. I was pushed into a waiting area on a wheelchair shaking violently. I attended a different hospital 10 days later ..... L1 compression fracture, 3 pelvic fractures and 2 posterior rib fractures.

It's OK though, because if patients ask she explains she's not a doctor - and she's able to perform the role of a GP but not, apparently, capable of stepping on the toes of midwives...

@docib @LittlePersonDoc @KreedKafer @RCEMpresident @gmcuk I said at the start of this that I expected to regret commenting. I think there are very real issues here, and I think we devalue and insult our doctor trainees by using the language of equivalence carelessly. They are not in a position to and do not feel safe commenting.

They are not, and never will be, a threat to MY job. Only a threat to YOUR job. What fantastic leadership from this generation of consultants. #AskForADoctor #BeKindToThePatient
ACP training is focussed on managing the everyday ED attendance. They are taught pattern recognition and more importantly when the pattern doesn’t fit and when to ask for help. They are not, and never will be, equivalent to senior doctors.

I’m shocked Govt officials have used the media to overwhelm GPs & complain to their ICBs if GPs fail to deliver It’s unacceptable that patients are used & encouraged by MPs in positions of power Patients & GPs deserve better & are at breaking point @SkyNews @wesstreeting
I'm shocked BMA officials urged GPs to divert urgent patients to A&E to 'overwhelm' services, as protest. It’s unacceptable - patients must never be used as leverage. Both GPs & patients want & deserve a health service fit for current & future generations.

Can we please stop using “but there aren’t enough doctors” as an excuse for filling medical gaps with people with no medical training? 1. If there aren’t enough doctors the only safe response is to recruit/retain doctors. 2. Most importantly: there ARE more than enough doctors.
So no training and expected to see patients to EaSe ThE bUrDeN on GPs... Honestly what's the point? These steps are failing patients and destroying the medical profession!
