Galling that Rantzen uses ‘religious people’ as shorthand for ‘bigoted and wrong’. Religious people use their effort and resources- even when limited- to run schools, food banks & hospices. She uses her sizeable supplies of both to shout down the voices of the sick and the poor.

Esther Rantzen completely misrepresents the position of the @rcpsych @RCPhysicians @RCPath and @APMPostTweets to @TomSwarbrick1 in this interview on @LBC Will she issue a correction? She confuses their position on the PRINCIPLE of assisted dying with the DETAIL of this Bill

Government pulls plug on assisted suicide Bill. 👇
It is almost a certainty that the assisted suicide Bill will not become law. Those who sponsored the Bill should now stop wasting Parliament’s time and withdraw the Bill, to allow other important legislation the chance to be debated. There’s no point in continuing with it.

The Holyrood vote on Assisted Dying could still go either way but it's hard to shake the suspicion that the failure of the Leadbetter bill in London makes it a little less likely that the Scottish parliament will endorse accelerated dying.
NEW: Final vote on the Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Scots Bill is expected to take place on Tuesday 17th March.

🔥Quite the reaction to our Esther Rantzen interview Lord Mark Harper - former Tory chief whip - told my colleague @LucyJMcDaid : “Esther Rantzen is a wealthy, articulate, powerful person who is never going to be a victim. If we get this bill wrong, we've got to pass a piece of
Wow: In her interview with us on Sky News just now, Esther Rantzen hit out at “religious people” and “lobbyists” for meaning the assisted dying bill is set to fail https://t.co/5uVfXDHPjh

The idea of a filibuster is (flimsy) pro-assisted dying propaganda designed to bully the Lords into voting for a dangerous bill. The claim shouldn’t be repeated without scrutiny 👇
I love data. I hate spin. Here's the truth about the Lords' serious scrutiny of the Assisted Dying Bill: ❤️🔥 Over 60 peers have tabled amendments^ ❤️🔥 160 speakers at Second Reading, 132 in Committee ❤️🔥 71% of peers attending the debates ❤️🔥 Over 40 peers speaking every week

GOOD NEWS: The government is not giving any more Parliamentary time to the 'Assisted Suicide' Bill in England and Wales, meaning it is likely to fall. If it does, good riddance to it. Murder by medic must not be legalised. https://t.co/0g885ycqAo

The Tory right is in a bind, here. They'd love to only go after halal slaughter, not kosher, but they know there's no coherent way of doing that, and they're not as shameless as Reform or Restore. So, they have to do both, thus alienating Jews who might otherwise be their allies.
Conservative MP Esther McVey has called for a law to label halal and kosher meat so people can decide not to eat it 'Individuals concerned about animal welfare would want to know if an animal had been stunned prior to slaughter,' she said
