😢 news. Andrew Hammond’s conduct of worship at Synod has been thoughtful, considered, prayerful, focussed on themes to sustain the business of the day, to inspire & feed. He has also brought in diverse people and voices to lead worship, rather than 1/3
What is significant about this for me is that we now have a serving diocesan bishop who is publicly honest about what he feels is the direction of travel for the church in relation to

Ironic that Steven Croft’s son is suspended as senior pastor at Soul Survivor because of mishandling complaints which are not yet in public domain, whilst the Bishop of Oxford remains in post for safeguarding failures which are very well document & public….
Wouldn’t have stopped Fletcher or Smythe….Focussing on ‘deference’ & titles stops us interrogating the real issue re. clerical abuse - power that is held untransparently & without robust & effective scrutiny. It is a systemic problem not one of etiquette.
