Founders: before raising a seed round, ask yourself 'how can we validate this business as fast as possible with as few resources as possible?' Aim to raise a pre-seed round from savvy angels and pre-seed funds to save dilution & spend each dollar efficiently.

Founder circles: 4-6 founders meet monthly without cofounders or investors in the room. Safe space to express worries, stresses, challenges. We formed our own after the original ended. Still meet monthly 2 years later. Build a cohort early to help each other rise.

As a first time founder, I gave out way too generous of titles for hires 1-10. Now I know that the hierarchy is C > VP > Dir > Mgr > IC Your first hires should likely be ICs. But put ‘founding’ in their title to acknowledge them joining early (e.g. founding engineer)

I firmly believe that teams of 5 or smaller should have no formal meetings and instead, casually discuss what you’re working on while getting your laptops out and at lunch. If that leads to a roadmap-changing insight, then it should naturally extend into a longer conversation.
