In Singapore they call these “build-to-order” flats. People apply to buy their flat and once their flat is booked it takes 3-5 years to build. This ensures that supply matches demand and there isn’t overbuilding

People buy these flats! 3bed/2bath, ~1500 sq ft. In SG you can use your retirement funds for housing and a bank loan for the rest. Loan interest rate is strictly regulated by the govt, rn her housing loan is ~1% (which she said is “high”). Her monthly payment is around ~$730

Interestingly this unit also comes with its own bomb/emergency shelter (see thick walls). Depending on size and other factors other social housing flats may share emergency shelters outside of their unit.

I adopted Cheddar from a woman who claimed to be an “animal rescuer.” Last Sunday, she asked if she could see him to check on him. She came to my home with a man we didn’t know, stayed for over an hour, and waited until my boyfriend left my apartment before jumping into action.

Let’s talk about Access to Justice. In court, my brother was offered a plea of public disturbance, an infraction. We retained a defense attorney who advised if we didn’t take the plea and went to trial, it would be a $64k retainer on top of the $5k we already paid him

Yes my uncle actually added the cabinet wall in! When constructed the interior meets strict HDB (housing development board) standards but people are able to customize and arrange the space as they see fit since they own it

Anyone fought an HOA before? We were told we could park on the street as construction is still ongoing, although there is a sign saying no parking. They decided today to enforce that no one can park on the street and sent a company to tow everyone, with no notice. (1/2)

I’m not sure who has $64k lying around but we didn’t. So my brother pled guilty to the infraction, and insultingly paid a FINE. He paid a fine for being the victim of violence instigated and initiated by

He had been in the hospital since Sat to see a neurologist, and early this morning he stopped breathing. The vet informed me he appeared brain dead and she suspected he herniated his brain. We decided to humanely euthanize so he could pass peacefully and painlessly.

Living in public housing doesn’t mean someone is unemployed. Both my aunt and uncle paid for this flat and will continue to pay monthly for the next 10 yrs. The diff bw public housing and the private market is that the govt’s role is to provide a public good, not make a profit

There is an extensive list of exemptions addressing the Gov’s concerns in the bill, including lighting used by law enforcement/first responders/medical personnel, and lighting that is needed to protect safety or state property (such as vandalism)

That’s sgd, not usd. Monthly payment w/o factoring COL doesn’t provide real context. 80% of people live in public housing and pay ~25% of their monthly income for mortgage. This is significantly lower than what most CAs are paying
