Idk what it is about this topic that makes everyone gravitate towards one extreme on the spectrum. The very healthy middleground is "We don't know if these things are conscious, or if they can even become conscious. So let's be careful just in case.". Why is that so hard?

My conspiracy theory with these kind of things is that all of this is handshake deals between VC partners and founders where they just siphon money away from fund investors into their own pockets.
