EXCLUSIVE from me @theipaper - Labour's leasehold reform could be watered down due to Treasury nervousness So, why does it matter? This is about whether or not to cap ground rents It affects nearly 5 million leasehold homeowners And the housing market in a BIG way

100% this 👇 please @_CallumAnderson @emily4MK
@mtpennycook Leaseholders have no interest in a MA regulator, they want to appoint them themselves and fire them when they want like any normal home owner would do - not be held to ransom by non-dom freeholders operating out of cayman island banks.

This is the most relatable thing Rachel Reeves has ever done
Very easy to mock the OBR for its issues around files going online yesterday but I'm not sure anyone at the Treasury, where the Budget document was named 'Final_print_HMT_Budget_2025_TEXT_PRINT_NEW.pdf' (two prints, a final and a new for those keeping count) should mock

"When we talk about homes, can we a bit more honest..." 💔 So poignantly put. This lady speaks for hundreds of thousands of homeowners whose lives and life choices have been ruined. Ordinary people who thought Labour might be on their side. Change? What change, @SteveReedMP?

🚨 NEW: The OBR has set out the terms for its investigation into the early Budget forecast release It's understood that the link wasn't visible on the site, but journalists reached it by simply replacing "March" to "November" in the link of the OBR's last forecast

Bad news for anyone thinking of responding to the consultation on the new electric vehicle duty. The consultation opens today, and closes last March.

As we all think of Hong Kong today let’s not kid ourselves that scaffolding fire risk is being properly managed at home. @H_S_E @LondonFire @PeteApps
Let’s hope the #DagenhamFire scaffolding wasn’t left like this one in Woking, Surrey prior to the fire. This is the view from inside an occupied flat looking out onto a timber decked scaffold covered in flammable insulation. #BuildingSafetyCrisis

@HarryScoffin @UKLabour Moreover, the lack of government action has meant that most leaseholders are unable to sell their properties in fair market conditions. This has caused flat values to drop steeply, while leaseholders remain unable to sell. Compensation must also be paid to leaseholders.

The franchise to extract the absolute most revenue from normally, correct fare paying commuters and passengers, but please rethink this, or make it more efficient and balanced - if you're going to further delay me, at least do the job fully.

Hi @LNRailway I know the 21 min delay on 1819 exEUS wasn't your direct fault, but to to be further delayed by this latest revenue blockade to be told at the front of it "we're only checking railcards" feels wrong this evening. I know there's only a few months left of

No. I don’t believe it. It’s a wind up. What?? The Councillor who let Reeves off for being an unlicensed landlord was, himself, an unlicensed landlord and has had to resign his position. Someone please make it stop!
BREAKING: Labour Councillor Michael Situ, Southwark’s Cabinet Member for Housing who decided not to take any action against Rachel Reeves, has himself been forced to resign after being caught committing the same landlord licence ‘blunder’ (via @Telegraph)

That moment when you realise that neither the Housing Secretary, nor the most senior official at @mhclg know about estate charges, which has been a corrosive wealth extraction model for years and is found in most newbuild estates. Well done @CommonsHCLG
Why are new estates paying for the same infrastructure ? Is that fair asks @GoAndrCoop "It doesn't sound fair" @SteveReedMP Clearly Steve has no idea of the Fleecehold model. Sarah Healey @PermSecDCMS responds incorrectly as she mentions buying the freehold - Buying the

Delayed you say? Sounds a lot like fixing the #BuildingSafetyCrisis Except probably no one sleeps here? And it was built well before modern regulations, right?
The Palace of Westminster actually collapsing around the legislators working in it because they keep delaying the decision on what to do with it is a bit on-the-nose as a symbol

Construction industry "professionals" & paid "think-tanks" have ramped up their lobbying to remove second staircases. A dangerous move that further compromises resident safety to stuff the pockets of unscrupulous, very rich developers. Pathetic. And we will fight it @SteveReedMP
The housing association Peabody were planning to build 564 new homes in Ealing. 50% affordable. Now cancelled. The reason 👇

Since you’re online tweeting… I’m currently sat downstairs in your reception with the person… I need to speak with someone senior.
Thank you to everyone concerned about the resident in the case raised by @Kwajotweneboa We share that concern and are acting quickly to support them. 1/4
