Leaseholders didn’t build, didn’t draw up the building regs, didn’t sign-off buildings as safe & fit for sale, do not own any aspect of the building & cannot sell their leases until “make safe” extortionate costs are paid. Literally hostages in their homes. @RobertJenrick #GMB
Since the Grenfell Tower fire, 462 high-rise buildings are identified as having dangerous cladding in England. William Martin lives in one of those buildings and tells #BBCBreakfast it's made his life "miserable" https://t.co/vsi99K2Ykh

Looks like in 2026 we’re heading to Ukraine capitulating, Trump opening up global trade with Russia plus a golf course or two and the Russian wartime economy taking further territory in 2027 to feed it… Return of the Soviet Union.. Who’d a thought it 🤯 Hope not.

They say they are an insurgent force. Yet Starmer’s @UKLabour govt folds to the Treasury and ECHR legalism. True insurgents would mobilise against the rotten rentier establishment and end leasehold to free us from modern serfdom. Lord Gove gives his take on Generation Screwed!
“The ECHR is to protect the vulnerable, ideally, against an abuse of power, but what we’ve got here is the powerful abusing the vulnerable.” @michaelgove makes the pro-leaseholder case for leaving the ECHR. And more! All in our new podcast, Generation Screwed 👇

@HarryScoffin @UKLabour I'm still utterly amazed that a Labour government has led us here. It's unconcionable, and goes against everything the Labour movement is supposed to represent. I've written another scathing email to my Labour MP (whose majority was wafer-thin at the last GE) today.

And Gove got his path to peppercorn agreed by Sunak! Imagine what would’ve happened had the GE not been called early. Damning a @UKLabour govt with the 2nd biggest majority in its 125-year history may fail to give a £250 ground rent cap, after pushing peppercorn in opposition.
That was a helluva day. So proud of our @HarryScoffin Most revealing bit 4 me is claim that No 10 backed a £250GR cap and would haven taken on vested interests if no election.

@dominicahern @JibbaJabb @Victoria_Spratt @theipaper @NLC_2019 @LKPleasehold @UKLabour @hmtreasury This government is lying. The problem is actually Lord Hermer and the paralysing ECHR legalism of this particular administration.

💯 and u would have thought this fact was obvious to any politician with mediocre intelligence. Especially if you have had 14 years in opposition to ponder it.
This is a problem for Labour because they want to build 1.5 million homes...to do that, they're going to have to go for high-density...and build...flats...

This is empty claptrap. Matt knows that “expecting” FirstPort & rest to magically improve is a total fantasy. They’ll carry on exactly as they are — because nothing in his proposals forces them to change. This is distraction, leaseholders are still getting no meaningful help.
As we take forward proposals to strengthen the regulation of managing agents, we expect to see FirstPort and others taking action to improve their standards and quality of service. https://t.co/ZBZiGdPjCS

Good from @Victoria_Spratt on why, despite a political consensus, there seems to be a danger that @UKLabour might u-turn on leasehold reform promises made in opposition. (£)

Who is WE exactly? We don't want regulations, we want universal adoption!

Exactly @HarryScoffin and @mtpennycook is making private estates leasehold 2.0!
@mtpennycook This focus on managing agents, avoiding freeholders, feels a bit like psyops. Managing agents are merely the symptom of the leasehold cause. Leaseholders are not the customer where that agent is hired by the monetising third-party freeholder, which is the common position.

Smell the betrayal of leaseholders…
EXCLUSIVE @theipaper - leasehold campaigners fear Labour will "betray" millions of homeowners by backing down on capping "onerous" ground rents ££ amid Treasury nervousness about freeholders. Former Housing Sec Michael Gove told me it is "preposterous" https://t.co/liFRek6BeL

It's literally too frikkin cold to do the washing up. Getting bored with this cold house thing, it's so demotivating. Wearing a sheepskin jacket while I'm sitting on the couch. It has been 12°C in here at its worst. Little milder tonight...

People are being rinsed and made miserable in their own flats because of legal structures our legislators are too ignorant, complicit, or uncaring to scrap. An Englishperson’s home will never be their castle while landlord-controlled leasehold still exists. Commonhold now!
