They could just pay the person cash as a contractor if it doesn’t work out. It’ll be under $600, so they won’t even need to send them a 1099 or do any paperwork.

They marched through Charlottesville carrying tiki torches. I don’t think saying this out loud would be considered shocking to many conservatives these days.
@RightWingCope
To be clear, this gets them paid, but does still present other issues such as they wouldn’t be covered by workers comp if they were injured during the training shift.
@roshanpateI
I’d ultimately judge them on their qualifications, but I would be concerned that if they’re that comfortable wading into culture wars/politics on a resume, then they might be rather disruptive in the office.

The best way for none of this to happen would be for Russia to withdraw from the Ukrainian territory they’re occupying and to end hostilities. If you start a war against another country, they have the right to attack you back.

I’ve seen many wheelchair users post about how airlines have broken their wheelchairs when loading them as cargo, ruining people’s trips. Allowing the wheelchairs to be used as your seat in the cabin also decreases the risk of damage due to negligence.

Here in Ohio our democracy is being threatened by a blatant violation of the state constitution and implementing illegally gerrymandered maps which give the GOP a supermajority. They are now also trying to amend the state constitution to make it harder to pass future amendments,…

This is so common that I don’t even look for Airbnb’s anymore, I just book at a hotel. It’s almost always cheaper for me and the service is going to be consistent. No weird demands/rules from property owners either.

For those of us that live in the suburbs, you really have no choice but to drive to concerts and sporting events because there is no public transit available.

What if we paint a mural of the Empire State Building on one side of the new tower and a mural of the Flatiron Building on the other side. Then it will be just like you can still see them! 😏

As a small business owner who's revenue has come to a halt in the last week, I don't need a loan that I won't be able to repay. If you want to stop us from going bankrupt you need to order a halt to commercial rent payments, our largest fixed expense.

It seems more likely that voice controls will become more advanced and control more features on the car including climate, lights, wipers, and signals, in addition to the music, navigation, and phone that it already controls.

She had a paper map. Navigating with a map was easy. It was a little more difficult of you were by yourself since you had to memorize the next exit, but if you had a passenger in the car it was their job to hold the map and navigate.

If you didn’t crop the image it would have provided greater context. It sounds like federal money does not go directly to NPR, it goes to radio stations, which are independently operated. Those stations in turn license content from NPR.

If airlines offered the option for you to use your wheelchair as your seat on the plane (presumably having some sort of strap down system for turbulence) would you opt for that over an airplane seat?

The amendment legalizing casinos passed with only 53% of the vote. I imagine the gaming companies are members of the chamber. I imagine restaurants, hotels and lodging have all benefitted from the legalization of gaming in Ohio. With a 60% threshold it would have never happened.

There’s a difference between disagreeing and being disruptive. If you don’t like listing pronouns, then by all means don’t include them in your official communications. I would of course have no problems with someone choosing not to list their pronouns. Actively making fun of…

It was the NW Territory. The area beyond that was the Louisiana Purchase Territory, which was considered west in the 1800s. St Louis was the border between west and Midwest, which is why there’s the Gateway Arch.
@MarkLevineNYC
That sounds like a much needed project. I do wonder though if there would be much demand from 9/11 survivors to live at the WTC site given the trauma they went through at that location.

And if you're going to offer loans, they need to be no interest with no personal guaranty since even with a loan the business failure rate is still going to be high. Business owners won't want to take on that liability personally.

If the sub was leaving a base in the White Sea, it wouldn't be able to travel to the Black Sea to conduct a test since Turkey has the Bosphorus closed to Russian warships.

The big question is how was it able to deviate so much? Did the local government completely fail in its responsibility to inspect the building throughout its construction to make sure it was adhering to its approved design?

Midwest is the old NW Territory. West of the Mississippi River is the west, hence why there’s a giant gateway to the west arch in St Louis.

Technically the USSR is a permanent member. As Ukraine has repeatedly pointed out, Russia never applied for UN membership after the breakup of the USSR, so it may legally not even be a member of the UN.
I think people are confused: HAMAS has been the de facto governing body in the Gaza Strip since 2007, when it ousted the Palestinian Authority from power.

Instead of blaming “the West” why not blame the source of the problem - Russia and Putin. The West didn’t invade Crimea or stoke a civil war in eastern Ukraine. The US helped train Ukraines military and provided billions of dollars of weapons. Turkey hasn’t even sanctioned Russia

People seem to be incorrectly interpreting “blocking access to international waters” as meaning the US will confront Russian warships and start WWIII. I interpret it as they’re going to block civilian vessels (container ships, oil tankers, etc) as part of an embargo.

It’s funny when public agencies install these when the US government tells citizens not to plug their phones into them. They should just install power outlets instead.
