It is unfortunate how little energy often gets behind holding politicians and public service accountable for outcomes. It’s self fulfilling!
@RM_Transit The responses to your post are painfully Canadian. Instead of agreeing with you, everyone is making an excuse for why the mayor cant do anything, or they say 'we already have progress'. This is why things remain mediocre and unambitious here.

Toronto really needs a good mayor who's willing to aggressively tackle our many problems. Where is the progress on . . . transit, for example?

Theres nothing more Toronto than thinking that a six lane highway is the transport infrastructure to be focused on with a 8-10 track rail corridor next door
There’s nothing more Toronto than refusing to finish the main highway into the Rogers centre when the world is visiting Toronto. PS it’s scheduled to open in 3 days

Ontario is poorly governed. A favorite ex of this is our approach to EVs. The gov took out lots of ads with our tax dollars talking about how we are a leader in the space, but we are really just a leader at corporate handholding. Quebec has way better EV penetration and infra.

I wonder when we see Waymo start deploying in Canada, I would wager 2027-2028

We agree, and hopefully they get it all sorted out soon! We can’t help but mention that travelling with a stroller would be a lot less stressful if they added platform doors, especially if you have multiples…imagine not having to teach toddlers the meaning of a yellow line…
Travelling on the @TTChelps with a baby in a stroller is really difficult when they're replacing so many elevators on Line 1 but not providing replacements. Really disappointing and unreliable. Eglinton Station today was a joke.

Did you know this program cost over 1.6B$ and has taken over 25 years? We think that if the TTC put their minds to it they could do platform doors in a much shorter time frame, and for less money. But this program is a good way to structure a platform doors program /1
@theliz1965 Good morning, The TTC’s Easier Access Program is making subway stations accessible. Construction at Islington Station is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. ^JS

Did we get this closed to the press? Seems kinda weird to have to put this out…we encourage the media to show up anyways, and ask first responders what their thoughts are on having to respond to preventable deaths on the subway system…
It would be great if someone from the media showed up to this and asked first responders how their jobs would change if there were platform doors…first responders shouldn’t have to be put in the situation of responding to preventable, and gruesome deaths on public infrastructure

While we support the work being done to separate cars from trains (because it also will separate pedestrians from trains), we also need a plan to protect customers from trains in stations - Ontario wide, on transit and commuter rail. Platform door installation needs funding.
We’re making improvements on GO’s Lakeshore West Line! 🚧 Grade separation work at Burloak Drive in Burlington, will allow trains to pass through the area without disrupting road traffic 🚆 Watch the video to learn more ⤵️ @GOtransit

Apple software used to always feel remarkably polished and Android was the buggy one. Somehow with Watch/iOS 26 it feels like Android.

This is good of course, but that the project avoids the densest areas of the region until later unfunded phases seems like a good way to sour the US on the most important transit technology for it.
Congrats to Honolulu Skyline—America's newest metro system and the only one that's fully automated—which just opened a major extension today Trains will now reach Pearl Harbor & Honolulu airport, boosting low ridership, though the system won't be extended to downtown until 2031

I've been thinking a lot about the future and one thing that I think is nearly inevitable is a lot more automated vehicles. I think this can be a positive thing, but cities *really* need to prepare.

19 minutes that a bunch of people won’t ever get back…@DianneSaxe what are we doing about this? Platform doors would solve it, the rapid reaction force has failed…
@TTCnotices 9:31am - Transit Control reported Line 1 subway service can resume now between Vaughan and Sheppard West. Outage was about 19 minutes.
