Save pediatric brain cancer research by asking legislators to oppose cuts to the proposed spending bill. These cuts will dramatically change or eradicate pediatric cancer research through the CDMRP. Call your U.S. Representative and ask them to oppose the proposed spending bill.

This data gives me hope: it shows what’s possible when we invest in pediatric cancer research. But continued progress isn’t guaranteed. Pharma has no incentive to focus on rare and childhood cancers. Federal funding is essential to ensure every child has a chance at survival.

Simple question: why does cancer cell death (necrosis) at diagnosis signal more malignant behavior? After all, we kill cancer with chemo/radiation to prolong survival. Textbook: cancer is out of control and outgrows its blood supply. Me: 🤔Skeptical. https://t.co/jHxiRQGq4i

“This will likely mean fewer new treatments will get to children and therefore that fewer children will be saved,” said Charles Roberts, MD, PhD, director of the St. Jude Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Cuts in NIH research grants will have a lasting negative impact on science and medicine in the U.S. Grants will continue to fund specific research costs, but essential infrastructure like labs, advanced equipment and support staff are crucial for groundbreaking work.
