Standing by for results. 232 infants (future adults) in 15 PICUs across England, Scotland, and Wales, participated in this randomised controlled trial, generating the highest standard of evidence to inform clinical practice.

As Omicron spread and isolated/quarantined hospital staff levels posed care risks, we showed marginal benefit from dual lateral flow testing to accelerate safe return to work, and we saw viable virus in 19.4% beyond the CDC 5-day threshold for safe return:

Mpox can be transmitted through intimate contact. This may be sexual in nature, but need not be. Many children have been infected from normal affectionate contact (cuddles) and some adults from exposure to skin flakes shed from severely affected people. Mpox is not a classic STI
I've been saying this since 2022: it's wrong to imply all mpox is an STI & doing so can be harmful. Clinical manifestations can relate to a transmission route/exposure-type, but routes of transmission/exposure & patterns of clinical disease differ between populations & outbreaks.
