There seem to be THREE simultaneous filovirus outbreaks - Marburg in Tanzania, Ebola in DRC (most likely culprit Zaire Ebolavirus) and Sudan Ebolavirus in Uganda. We need adequately funded public health and research and development programmes and support.
Permanent Secretary, Dr. @DianaAtwine addresses the media this afternoon. “An outbreak of Sudan Ebola Virus Disease has been confirmed in Kampala, Uganda following confirmation from 3 National Reference Laboratories.”

Controversial COVID study that promoted unproven treatment retracted after four-year saga . Ironic that the co-authors complain they were “victims of cyber-harassment” - they should try being on the receiving end of HCQ believers, including Raoult himself.

An extraordinarily strong lesson on the importance of good science, critical thinking, and being truly objective. The damage done to trust and to patients by the hydroxycholoroquine debacle should never be repeated. Would love to know the reasons for retraction.
Extraordinary: Raoult’s damaging paper on hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19 finally retracted. So grateful to all the people who helped with the RECOVERY trial, allowing us to debunk the myth of hydroxychloroquine for severe COVID-19.

"A new requirement" that further raises the onerrous burdens of applying for research funding and, ironically, likely increasing the inequality in who is funded to do research (will further concentrate funding in well resourced entities).
Today we've launched a new requirement that all applicants must demonstrate how their research will address existing inequalities in health and social care as a condition of funding. Applicants will now be required to show how inclusion is being built into all stages of the
