"Use masks and tests if you wish" is not public health guidance. That is how you talk about sprinkles on your sundae.
Largely agree with Tulio. At this point, not super worried about EG.5 We will get new variants. They will cause increases in infections The answer is the same Keep up w vaccines Get treated if infected Use masks and tests if you wish And don’t worry about every new variant

What does it say about our society that the stock prices for drug companies with weight-loss drugs are skyrocketing, but stock prices for drug companies with COVID vaccines are tanking?

Some public health experts have recently said most Americans can ignore Covid, yet see my thoughts in @GlobeOpinion. Because in my humble opinion, Ignoring COVID-19 is still not an option for most Americans👇🏽

Co-sign Schools start this week in many areas of the South. This also coincides with extreme heat that has been driving everyone indoors. We are setting ourselves up for failure if there are delays getting these new COVID vaccines out.

See if your community's wastewater data is available through this link. Look at the section titled, "Covid-19 Wastewater Monitoring by County and U.S. Territory" and put in your state and then look for your county. https://t.co/sg6xiHHLyo
If you'd have told me 2 or 3 years ago that a real-time wastewater surveillance algorithm would become the primary way to detect Covid on the rise, I wouldn't have believed it. But it is now: https://t.co/MafNWQbY3h

1/Please share this thread on behalf of my physician colleague, Eunice Stallman, who is facing the nightmare of her 9mo daughter, Zoey, being diagnosed with brain cancer several weeks ago. @BlueCrossIdaho has added to their anguish by obstructing access to vital treatment.

Every physician in the United States since the dawn of time.
everyone i know in their late 20s is having an existential crisis because we skipped our mid 20s in the pandemic. relationships fast-tracked, careers faltered, we lost those core identity-building years and now we feel like 23-year-old brains in bodies approaching 30

Intentional dissemination of vaccine disinformation is the antithesis of child advocacy, intended to score political points, at the cost of children’s lives. It isn’t so much ignorant as callous and irresponsible.

“Public-health …ignores other considerations, including enjoyment.” Non-smoking areas. Speed limits. Seatbelts. Safe gun storage. Those all technically take away individual-level enjoyment too. Pitting enjoyment against public health is the wrong brand. And just makes me sad

You know who is rightfully terrified of private equity? New residency/fellowship graduates. Right now, independent, physician-owned practices have a massive recruiting advantage. You should be shouting your hatred of private equity from the rooftops.

If you think 24h shifts in medical training are good b/c they give you insight into what being an attending in a given speciality is like, you should also ask why are attendings working 24 hour (& longer) shifts?
