Congratulations @KemalKeseroglu and @OzbudakLab. It was so much fun exploring the role of the genetic oscillators in embryonic development. Thanks @jtchieu for discussions and providing valuable feedback and thanks to Ben Caputo and Brady Cline for critical reading and editing.

Then, we discuss the gatekeeping role of their oscillatory expression in neurogenesis, myogenesis and pancreas development. It ensures proper embryonic development by regulating proliferation-to-differentiation switch of stem cells and progenitor cells.

We first summarize our favorite topic, somitogenesis. Describing how the oscillatory expression of Hes/Her genes and their targets is utilized by cells to measure time. Thereby creating periodic pattern of somites in space.

New on the Node @FethullahSimsek & colleagues from @OzbudakLab share the story behind their research on clocks, gradients and segmentation, where they discover that clock-dependent oscillations in the ppERk gradient drive sequential somite segmentation. https://t.co/CbuFPMh0ZN

@alevlab and Pourquie ( @YuchuanMiao ) labs recently published 3-D human somitogenesis models @Nature + @sharadramanath1 lab @Cell as well. Our two cents (spotlight @CellStemCell) on how they teach about conserved mechanisms to make somites: https://t.co/c6hoolqOwA #development

Our review on the role of FGF signaling in somitogenesis is online now. One learns a lot while going through the process of writing a review. I had multiple epiphanies. I strongly recommend trainees and young researchers to write one. https://t.co/sXbgKLbGzG

It was fun sharing how nature forms incredible patterns with scientists outside of the field. It's even more rewarding when you can excite judges for your specialized work and receive the 1st place recognition. A big thank you to my department for organizing the retreat.#scicomm
