@TreadAthletics
Its got some drawbacks in real time. Some of which will hurt strategy, some of which just need getting used to.
Its also pretty good for the guys that stare at their bat for an hour between each pitch counting their breaths, and the pitchers that come set for 12 glute movements.
@MarkAMark
You missed by a mile on this one. Best tennis player of all time, beats a player with a 15-23 career record in straight sets. Only thing deep in his head would be tryingto find a memory of his last loss to any American.
Baseball used to be more like gym class, then it took on some math and sciences.
Now i am hearing people treat it like philosophy class and social science.
But I always liked gym class the best.

They don't always grant time. They will grant it even less now. It isn’t as wild as the batter makes it all seem. We just have never seen anyone act like him before.
@TheDataCage
I hate posts like this. Generalized probables about an instance of coaching you wouldn't do. Then a general directive to all coaches to
Be. Better. With periods.
The video you reposted was cool though. The part you added, nah.

Mike Tomlin era could be at an end. He has now a formula that works for relevance, but not success. No one has watched them for the last half decade and actually thought they were good. We have hoped for them to become good. And we have been able to revel in their resilience.
DAVIS BAKER APPRECIATION TWEET: Not one, but TWO highlight reel plays over the last two innings this afternoon for the freshman sensation, including this sliding stop and 🚀 throw from DEEP in the hole in the ninth!

I get annoyed that they show her so much. Just as I get annoyed when they show jerry jones all the time. Anyone thats not an active participant in the game getting a ton of the camera annoys me. Please don’t” twitter turn” that into me hating life or women.
@TJHannam10
This is just one of those nice things to say.
There are absolutely losses.
Might as well say there is no winning either, only learning opportunities.
I hate how nerdy pitching is getting. Facility tech bros, and guys in non workout gear holding water bags, discussing rotational forces from outside of foot vs inside of foot. One big not as cool science experiment. That works, but still sucks
@TreadAthletics
I believe last year in at least one minor league, that the clocks reduced game times by a half hour and stats on both sides of the ball remained pretty unchanged.
@TreadAthletics
I have found this to be true that in my programs the better pitchers are more built this way. They are practicing at bullpens and never peaking there. Underlying confidence, not searching, desensitized sure. Refining skills and building skills are two different games.
@PitchingCoachU
I mostly agree with this. I think there are certain guys with some feel mixing around. And some small timing, stuff, deception, setup, benefits to mixing around. But mostly the simple build a delivery at 1.3 is the best method.

Rumor is the Red Coach had a fire alarm go off at home, 2:45 am
Ring doorbell shows a car with PA plates and child car seats in the back, speeding off around time of the “fire”
@BaseballDudes48
Both ways can work. It doesn’t have to be a tell all coaches what to do sorta thing. I have had seasons calling, and a season with a very talented staff and catcher calling them.Some good and bad from each. Communication among all involved is critical either way.
@MikeDro_
I think its arguable that her resume falls a bit short of their previous four managers.
But they can interview whoever they want, they know her so must be impressed. And many people succeed even with less on the resume.

Great Work ethic isn't responsive to media coverage, accolades or scholarships. It responds to the stuff on the inside.
And your work ethic was unmatched. Thats 16 years sample size brother!
@BaseballDudes48
I disagree with this. Almost totally. You can be in the process of teaching catchers and pitchers and still be more the expert as it goes. And they are yet to be masters of any part of the game, so adding advanced strategy to their plate not always good.
@TreadAthletics
@jaegersports
20 years removed from making any pitches, but I believe I was so into the moment that I didn’t tell myself a thing. Which is more biggest pitches of life, not best. But is there a difference?
@nickstrong
There are a lot of differences overall. There is some overlap from stronger D3/D2s to weaker D1s, sure. But the avg experience at the D1 level has more talent, amenities, funding.

I am quite amazed at the pitch invention going on recently on twitter. About 8 pitches in the history of baseball. Yet 5 patents pending just this winter.
@PitchingCoachU
I used to enforce this with my guys, and do not anymore. Not against it just got way less scripty about bullpens. I think its an interesting topic though. I could see argument for throwing your best stuff pitch first, argument for your most reliable area first or the middle.
@JonGordon11
A lot of good one in here. The religious aspects of this are links to mental toughness that I have never considered. I do not see how they apply to the creation of mental toughness. And

is very shaky advice. At least in sports. You do have something to lose in those moments
@TheHonestNFL
They have 13 at half, they are running the ball well. They arent allowing the vikings passing hame a million possessions. They likely tiring out the defense to an extent. This method has worked many times in football. More boring sure.
@CoachMongero
And when they are finally trying to find themselves after splitting the first 2, they have to play away in rival’s park. The setup is brutal and not at all rewarding to the best 162 game teams
@michael_schlact
@FOX19Joe
Why is it always a results vs. process like they are oppositional concerns or one has no room in his head for both concerns? I am not sure I buy the “i dont focus on results” statements. This one sounds searching. “I always said….. to “ i learned my rookie year and last year”
@clongbaseball
Very rarely, so those kids that choose to train better really want it, or they could be missing out on life by training for baseball that ends at 18 anyway.
The older I get, the more I consider mental toughness to be one of those terms we just curiously throw around to explain why some win and some lose. But typically the rules define that well enough for me.
@BaseballDudes48
There is something strange about about your connection with the possibility of someone being better equipped to do something and that having anything to do with attitude.
It is just true that some people masters at a craft
I have always been happy sports were a last bastion of true merit. And this is another symbol of that changing. Entertainment and profit. The only things we have left.
@TreadAthletics
So easy to lose prioritization/understanding/evaluation of success within goals when there are so many “markers” of progress. Results are the goal and everything else is a path.
Velocity, movement, mechanics, spins, outliers, are all paths.
@PitchingCoachU
Awesome stuff. Strikes are hard to come by. I blame astroturf mounds for being also so exactly perfect. Oh no thats not it. Pitching has gotten complex for 18-20 year olds. Takes some time for the guys chasing pitch/movement improvement to solidify what will work and what wont.
@DavidSacks
No stay with liberal. It was a 4-3 vote. If you say democrat then 3 democrats did the opposite of the other 4 democrats. And we can’t have that
@PitchingCoachU
@FlatgroundApp
This is an interesting tweet. Not sure what reward means here.
It makes it sound like there would be many times where I am rewarding someone for a process that doesn’t work, then changing the thing i rewarded.
I appreciate the sentiment here and value of process, though
