Can’t get outside to Throw or Long Toss this Winter?
No problem!!
Here’s 1 of 2 ways to get a “great throw in” without being able to go outside!!I

This is what it looks like at the beginning of your throwing session!!!
1) UPHILL Angle
2) Effortlessness
3) Athletic
4) Loose/Relaxed Arm Action
5) Loose/Relaxed Body
6) Loose/Relaxed Mind
Freedom prior to Aggression.
Athlete > Mechanics
Seems like MLB Orgs spend a lot of time on Analytics to win games - how many more games could be won if teams started taking Pre-Game Infield/OF again, and DEVELOPING position player arms like this!!!
Strong, Accurate Arms win games on Defense.

3) Want better Feel?
Throw more Often

For anyone who thinks 120 ft is "Long Toss", this chart (approximation) hopefully puts into perspective how well tour truly "developing" your arm:
Long Toss Distance based on above Avg Arm Strength:
6 years old = 75 ft
8: 100 ft
* 10: 120 ft
12: 150
14: 225
16: 275
18: 300+

Why your Long Toss distance may not be FULLY translating - Velocity wise - to the mound.
Hint: you are probably decelerating rather than accelerating during your Pull Downs (on your way back in to your throwing partner).

Why we want you to Crow Hop off your BACK leg:
1) Health (Optimal Support of Legs, Core & Ground Forces)
2) Takes load off of your arm
3) Simulates same movement patterns from mound
4) Optimal Load allows you to get downhill more easily

Re Crow Hopping
Why we want u to Crow Hop off of your BACK LEG:
1) Health - activate legs/core & take load off of arm
2) Athleticism - promoting innate movements
3) Strength - the more support your arm gets, the further/harder the ball goes
4) Simulates how u throw off of mound
When Long Tossing...
There are several reasons why you want to get air under the ball (arc) on the way out:
1) Range Of Motion
2) Optimal STRETCH prior to aggressive throws (pull downs)
3) Throwing uphill GREATLY promotes throwing downhill
4) Athleticism
5) Leverage

What’s the most important thing u can do 4 ur arm?
Consistent Throwing.
We can't emphasize this enough.
In most cases, throw 6-7 x a wk.
It doesn't mean u have to go out to 300 ft, or Pull Down each day.
Just Throw.
Play Catch.
Water The Plant.
Feed The Arm.

Mental Drills For Hitters --
If you're having issues with:
1) Over Thinking at the Plate
2) Plate Discipline
3) Pitch Selection
4) Being Impatient
5) Chasing your Batting Avg
then u may find these Mental Drills very helpful:
"Batters Box Management" -
Playing catch out to 90 feet is NOT developing your arm - it’s REGRESSING it (unless u either threw 100 pitches last nt or are 8 years old).
If ur 15 years or older, u should prob be stretching your Arm out to AT LEAST 180-300 ft most days!

Just a friendly reminder...
It takes about 4 wks (from scratch) to get your arm into IDEAL throwing shape.
This implies that u are throwing AT LEAST 6-7 x a wk.
Build it SLOWLY & surely.
Build a great BASE.
Stack ur base thru VOLUME, not distance.

If someone tries to put u on a "Throwing Program" that IMPOSES a Pre-Determined:
1) Time limit
2) Distance limit
3) Volume limit
4) Arc limit
BEWARE.
This is how your arm gets "PROGRAMMED", rather than LIBERATED.

Top 4 Reasons Arms get sore:
1) UNDER Conditioned (ie not throwing enough during time off)
2) Lack of CONSISTENT Throwing
3) High Intent day w/out arm being FULLY stretched out
4) Not enough Arm Care
If your Arm is sore, pls BACK OFF & RE-CONDITION it 1st until it feels better!
