Pleased to announce our lab's latest pre-print by graduate student @mariahcalubag "Tissue-specific effects of dietary protein on cellular senescence are mediated by branched-chain amino acids"

Dietary protein is a key regulator of healthy aging in both mice and humans. In mice, reducing dietary levels of the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) recapitulates many of the benefits of a low...

Happy Holidays from the Grillo Lab! It was a fantastic third year, and we look forward to an exciting year ahead. It is important to stop to celebrate and appreciate our accomplishments and hard work. I loved our Potluck and "Secret Tony" to end the year! #mitochondria

Hypoxia in a pill! Chronic, continuous 11% FIO2 suppresses brain pathology in models of mitochondrial disease and aging, but we need practical alternatives. We combine a Hb "left-shifter" with a HIF2a inhibitor to achieve therapeutic hypoxia in mice. https://t.co/6sX9kieRPV

What I don't get about academia is the chronic lack of celebration. It is hard to get & maintain grant funding, hard to get papers accepted without Faustian bargains, hard to be a great mentor, & hard to maximize trainee success. All of it is hard. We should celebrate everything.

We love a healthy debate. @mkaeberlein's lab members got together to discuss/disagree with each other about various longevity interventions at the recent @americanaging meeting. https://t.co/E2whgrl0r9

Did you know @mkaeberlein used to head a lab @UW? He gathered former lab members for a lively debate about longevity interventions such as acarbose, sauna, NAD+, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and many more. https://t.co/E2whgrksBB
