My 11 year old has just told me to check out this band he's listening to called "Nirvana" & their song "smells like teen spirit" apparently they are good.
The last Magdalen laundry closed in 1996. Sinead ripped up the picture of the Pope in 1992. It's thought 9000 babies died in just 18 of those institutions. No apology was issued by the state until 2013. Sinead should've got one too for trying to speak out.
Various Garrick Club members including Sting, Mark Knopfler and leading actors and producers have reportedly written to the Club chairman saying they’ll resign if the membership doesn’t vote to accept women next Tuesday. Many others like me would also find it impossible to stay.
Friend was called a Karen for asking group of kids to pick up their litter from Grantchester meadows ... where calf recently died because it choked on litter. Nice young kids have got a word to shout at women now isn't it?
The demands of "be kind" reminds me of when middle child aged 7 had "it's cool to be kind" top on while fighting with her younger brother. I pointed out these words as I broke up the battle & she said "yes it means be kind to ME" ...which now seems prescient comment
Back when I first started working men used to say "oh what's this then, a mothers' meeting?" whenever more than two women were talking in the office - as a way of making sure us females knew what we were discussing was a bit of a joke & not important.
8 year old asked if he's allowed to say f word if it's about covid and I said only if he whispers it so I've now got a child going around the house like a sweary whispery ghost saying "fuck off corona virus"

Good for you. People may think this doesn't matter to them because they disagree with the people who've had their accounts closed - but when tech start controlling finances because someone holds an opposing view then we are getting into very dangerous territory.

@guardianopinion
Yes - What does the Guardian think will be the outcome of calling us all right wing? Because I'm not going to suddenly think "Family Sex Show" is great just because you've called me a Tory.
@jk_rowling
@billybragg
And compared Maya F the 'Taliban'. A murderous anti woman organisation. "If you had any self respect you'd apologise" is just the kind of thing my horrible controlling ex used to say.
Seen some mums on Instagram defending this & saying it's all about inclusivity & anti fascist. Guys - you've taken your babies to a strip show. You're not the French Resistance.
Hahahahahhaha your baby isn't even walking come back to me when your toddler has scrawled on the wall and wiped their snotty nose on the velvet sofa and you couldn't do anything because you're trapped breastfeeding baby number 2

Without fail on a thread about public toilets and single sex facilities someone will make this point - like our own homes are the same as public spaces. This isn't about not putting the toilet seat down - this is about protection for women & girls

who has been treated appallingly by Labour Party. If they were serious about women's rights they might start with condemning the abuse she's received for saying exactly what the party are now adopting as policy.
What possessed him to go on Mumsnet? I know there's a popular belief that mumsnetters are not worthy of respect ... but you will struggle to find a smarter & funnier group of women. They'll destroy him better than anyone in House of Commons could.
Boris Johnson facing Qs from
@MumsnetTowers
. First Q: "Why should we believe anything you say when it’s been proven you’re a habitual liar?" PM blusters: "Well I don’t agree with that conclusion..."
PR - I don't believe that any charity that is campaigning to remove the rights of trans people to live their lives safely and fully, should be allowed to exist.
AR - despite the fact that gender critical views are protected under the Eq Act.
PR - I'm not an expert.
'One staff response to the assessment said: “I am gravely concerned about the influence on the NHS of organisations like Mermaids and Stonewall.” Another staff member said that they are “concerned this has now come to Addenbrooke’s”.' 👀
"We couldn't get it past our junior members of staff" ... And therein lies the answer as to why schools, universities, some newspapers, corporate companies to big brands, TV shows etc etc can't even discuss this issue -
@HadleyFreeman
Jews are not safe. That's the overriding feeling I get and I'm not Jewish. Pretend all you like - pontificate about the meanings of words and phrases but what it boils down to is Jews are not safe.
I'm not sure where we'd even be without
@jk_rowling
: all those other feminist™️ organisations and writers still totally silent while the evidence and legal cases pile up. Too busy campaigning to get into the Garrick
More than 30 pro-Palestinian Harvard students participated in a 12-hour hunger strike Friday in solidarity with students at Brown University pressuring the Brown Corporation to divest from Israel.

report.
If this show was created with guidance of safeguarding specialists then they missed the glaring obvious risks of the title to children who are victims of familial abuse.
I'm very uncomfortable with the narrative from educators that their job is protect pupils from violent parents by keeping secrets from the parents. Do they lie in school reports? At parent evenings? Do they believe every single thing every child says to them?
Confused as to why Katherine Ryan's name is trending and not Richard Osman who was Creative Director at Endemol? Surely the senior execs there are the ones who were aware of contracts, behaviour and problems?
@RosieDuffield1
"Rosie is Rosie" ... well if he was any good at comms he'd know - contrary to what he hears in his gossipy echo chamber - that lots of are very glad 'Rosie is Rosie' because she speaks for us.
@HRwritesnews
In the 80s it was popular to dismiss women as Sharons or Tracy's - I know you think you're being edgy and original but it's the same misogyny repackaged.
Can we please now see an end to the lobby groups that go into schools to teach parents, children and staff about transitioning while pretending to be neutral on this issue. They are not neutral. They aren't even experts.
@EverydaySexism
Has anyone in the police talked at all about how Couzens was radicalised by violent pornography. So far they've talked about waving at bus drivers and expecting law abiding women to be experts in arrest procedures ... but not about radicalising
Thank goodness you've never behaved like a horrible bully - in say somewhere like the House of Commons - because otherwise this accusation would look dodge.
Me : who do you want to go as for world book day?
9yr old: myself
M: Oh, you've got to go as character from a book darling.
9: I know. I'm going to write a book about me tonight.
Remember when grifters used to do it in person? Get stopped with a sob stories when you were out and about : cars broken down, wallets stolen ... just need £ to get the bus that type of thing? It's just all moved online and people need to wise up a bit.
@LittleHardman
Meanwhile this is her dad's coronation protest which I love because it has all the upper middle class markers : bonne maman jam, French linen cloth, granite kitchen surface and Emma Bridgewater plate
Content & tone in a crisis should be thoughtful & intelligent. Organisations using social media today should be mindful of the horrendous events - especially true of Amnesty International. This is like posting a meme or gif. Be meaningful. Add value - Don't be trite.
Benefits of working from home:
- No commute
- Homemade lunch
- Work out whenever
- Control over AC/furnace
- Blast music thru speakers
- No need for shoes or shirt
- Not seeing Karen every day
- Homemade coffee/espresso
- Coworkers can't walk up to your desk
Anything else?
@LouisainStudio
Their logic seems to be "so many men commit this crime we haven't got prison space for them" rather than "maybe if we got serious about this crime & they got min 5 years for possession of child abuse material we'd send a powerful message about seriousness"
@cwilso
@sigourneybeaver
My daughter turned her dollshouse into a ladybird hotel which she blocked up to prevent them from escaping so really a prison 🐞
Just as the GIDS is being shut down, so too should the school propaganda pipeline promoting gender identity.
There should be an investigation of Stonewall, Gendered Intelligence, Mermaids and they should be out of schools.
The GIDS problem cannot be solved by the NHS alone.
@ripx4nutmeg
These men can't believe their luck. No one took any notice of that they wanted before. They were the lowest rung of the prison pecking order. And now - NOW - they get shipped off to women's prisons.

treatment at ........ Gonville and Caius - you'd think she'd know about attempts to silence and the protest there? The fellows and masters I know were mortified by how she was treated.

My 12 year old daughter hid behind me in the small shared washroom space as we waited with men for a cubicle to free up. I would never send her alone to use a mixed sex loo if it has a shared enclosed hand-washing space.
