Indeed. And in many forces, women could be searched by any man who said he was a woman, not just those with a piece of paper deeming them a woman.
Police forces encouraging men to feel afraid and unsafe because they won't be able to search female suspects - they didn't give a _toss_ how unsafe _women_ felt previously, when they feared some man with a £5 piece of paper searching them.
